Classic government censorship. Just the threat qualifies. Kimmel and Colbert should be using their networks and the Trump Administration for censorship and violating their 1st Amendment Rights.

They probably don’t have standing to sue. The First Amendment is a restriction on government and not the networks, and the Trump administration’s assault on the First Amendment is against the networks and not the hosts.

The fascists are being more careful about who and how they target their enemies than people realize.

It has come out that most of the execs at ABC were against the Kimmel “suspension,” but the few top decision makers were concerned about Trump pulling their broadcast license.

So this was a decision to censor based on pressure from the administration. That is classic censorship, and a violation of the 1st Amendment.

It was the same for Colbert. If CBS wanted government approval for their sale, they had to shut him up. Again, classic censorship.

Each of those hosts makes millions each year, and probably had another 20 years on their careers. Then there are all the crew members out of work. It would be a great class action lawsuit.

These media outfits have forgotten the old saying “Don’t fuck with people who buy their ink by the barrel.” If these networks got together and started a strategic media campaign against Trump and MAGA, people would be demanding their heads in 8 weeks, even many MAGA followers. They are extremely stupid, ignorant, gullible, and malleable If the media pulled out all the stops, they could convert them easily.

The problem is, those media companies are becoming owned by conservative companies, and now CBS is owned by Larry Ellison, 2nd richest man, and a vicious Psychopathic MAGA. ABC is owned by Disney, who seems to have no problems appeasing the administration. And NBC is owned by Comcast, a company who consistently places at or near the top of the worst customer service. They clearly don’t care how their customers feel.

These broadcast companies are perfectly comfortable playing along with, and being media shills for, the MAGA Nazis.

I’m not sure why people expected them to do anything else.

These companies exist to make money not resist fascism. If they can do both that’s great but they will always choose money.

They have no morals and they don’t care what happens in the world so long as stock ticker goes up. The incentives don’t allow for anything else.

A company also has to do whatever they can to protect their markets, and keep them healthy. Participating in a ever growing circle of bribery, intimidation, threats, and escalating demands isn’t going to be good for the market, or the company itself.

When DeSatan’s hand-picked board took over the governance of Disney world’s property, one of his choices was a church lady, who immediately declared that Disney would be forced to submit all of their movies to the board, who would demand changes before allowing the release. She said it out loud, directly to a reporter, knowing it would be published. She was already making extreme demands.

Eventually, the government will be approving all programming, which will become extremely boring, and the market will turn away. Perhaps then then these corporate boot-lickers will realize that they would have been better off resisting.

The challenge is that workers in the States aren’t sufficiently organized to weather a general strike (much less coordinate to start one). So how do we get sufficient mutual aid in place so that workers have the support they need to strike?

Thought people were being hyperbolic about trump packing the supreme court. This guy has wasted no time completely destroying any shred of legitimacy the supreme court has ever had. I kind of see this as a positive. Now people see that trusting the supreme court with interpreting the constitution is extremely dumb. If one president can pack the court with fascists what’s the point in even having this system? Obviously our constitution was never meant to be beneath the supreme court. This is an extremely clear violation of the right to free speech and of a free press. Our 1st amendment, not even our 2nd one.

One thing that has been an eye-opener about all of this is how much cowardice there is in the U.S… It’s easy to talk a big game about free speech and freedom of the press, but when push comes to shove, most buckle.

yeah, after reading your comment, I realize I meant something slightly different than I wrote. So to clarify… a lot of people are on-board with the “policies” he’s pursuing since the policy is always some variation of “crime with impunity” for people on his side. There are hordes of people who want to get in on that. Nevertheless, they don’t like him, don’t trust him, don’t believe anything he says; and they wouldn’t hesitate to stick a knife in his back if a better option emerged.

Not everybody, apparently a lot of americans are ok with all this.
I mean, if they weren’t ok with it there’d be a visibly decent amount of push back about it all. Yet all they’ve done is post memes, and went out and had a walkabout with some signs a few months ago.

That’s because a lot of this hasn’t really started to affect them yet. Sure he has his merry band of loyal supporters but there’s also a lot of people who are just not really very politically aware and aren’t paying attention.

Think about your grandparents or if you’re old enough just your parents. They sit around watching fox news and seeing posts on Facebook and they assume that those are viable sources of trustworthy information. Which obviously they are not.

At some point in the next few years they will start to wonder why the shelves are always empty now, and why are the products they do have so expensive? Also why are so many businesses closing, I was told the economy was doing well.

For Hitler, it worked until the Russians were literally on top of him and he was putting a bullet in his own head. And this was after years of his cities being bombed into rubble.
