Hey!

There’s some things I am planning on ordering, and I’d like to get them delivered without my parents knowing.

The things in question are some 23w CFL bulbs, e27 sockets, PC fans and a power strip.
I was originally planning on just buying them in person, but literally no shops near me have them.

I can’t actually find them anywhere but the american version of amazon – my country’s (Ireland) version of amazon doesn’t have them.

I asked a few friends if I could send the things to their house, and get it through them, but all of them said no.

You need to keep in mind that everything on the internet is surveiled these days, and there is a strong possibility that your local police department will find out about you buying these things. You can get in serious trouble like years in prison trouble with years of probation and fees after you get out, and prison and probation is not a good place to be. If you are going to sell weed, you need to evaluate the cost benefits analysis of this. How much money do you honestly expect to make to balance the huge risk you are taking? Selling slightly above the cost is not worth it. If you are going to sell weed then you probably should try to make a lot of money off of it and then quit while you are ahead. This can maybe make the risk worth it if you value your limited years on this earth in money. Personally I’d rather just work a normal job, and just buy weed. It’s extremely cheap. I don’t smoke anymore but the amount of weed id have to grow to make this a rational decision was not something I was willing to do. Also I don’t want to live in prison for years eating bologna sandwiches made by drug addicts. Prisons are disgusting and horrible places.

I don’t plan on selling it, I’d just like to try and grow some.

I’ve looked into it, and the penalties for it aren’t that harsh here.

Maybe but if you have more than a certain amount and if you are selling it then you will get trafficking charges and in most places that is serious jail time. Spending years in jail won’t just destroy your mind, but also your immune system and everything else.

You live with your parents, are scared of them seeing what you’re buying, can’t even figure out how to buy something without asking the internet, and you still somehow think you’re going to grow weed without them knowing?

    Dude…… come on lol

I’m not too concerned about them finding it. It’s just probably better to ask forgiveness than ask permission here.

So just buy the stuff and do it. If they get the package, ask for forgiveness, then continue doing it.

Or, and hear me out - don’t be selfish and stupid and try and jeopardise your parents lives by growing marijuana while you live at their house.

Hiding the delivery of the equipment seems the least of your problems. Where are you planning on setting this up that you could hide it? Power consumption? Whatever this project is, if you live at home and can’t tell your parents about it, how do you expect to hide it?

If you are not in a position to do it properly, it’s not worth doing over just buying weed.

It’s not just about yield, even if you’re comfortable with a very low yielding harvest, but your quality will suffer and the genetics will not reach their full potential without the right things.

The CFLs don’t have enough of a broad spectrum to support a lot of good growth, and you’ll end up with low quality results with a low yield. Not to mention any tent is likely to make some noise, from the extraction fan and a fan for circulating air around, and even with an extraction fan for good bud if you’re trimming outside of the tent it WILL stink up your house something fierce.
Not to mention your parents would get suspicious of the constant visits to your room, as your learning to maintain good VPD etc.

Airflow being important if you don’t want mold.

Anyone can grow weed, but it takes some effort to grow good weed. It would be wise to consider this once you have your own place to do so, it’s worth the wait and you can easily pull 3-4+ ounces per plant (in dry weight) under a 200w LED with the right gear, but the CFLs will be weaker and probably net you under an ounce in dry weight.

It’s quite satisfying. I grew a very colourful cultivar this time around, and I’m sampling it right now (Blood Diamonds 2.0).

Once you have things dialed in, environment wise, there is great benefit in being able to choose genetics (be wise to find reputable breeders however, and steer clear of white label seeds as well).
There are just so many flavours and variations people growing for an illegal market do not have the patience for. I mean I had to push these until 11 weeks in flower until they were ripe enough to chop! Well worth it though, and I recommend anyone in the position to try it to give growing a shot.

LOL your parents’ house is going to reek of weed. You will get caught. Grow outdoor in a hidden place or wait until you get your own apartment.

And here I was being confused why some person’s parents would get so angry at them for buying computer parts from their own money. I see I was not cultured enough to understand the true question at hand.

      Growing outdoors is near-impossible here.

I don’t plan on keeping the thing indoors.

Then wait until you move out and get your own place. No amount of filtration nor air fresheners will hide the smell from your parents. I speak from experience. You’re gonna get caught, and it’s not going to be a good time.

You shouldn’t start smoking weed until you’re well into your mid 20s regardless. Save yourself a headache (and potential legal trouble) and just wait. Been there, done that. It’s not worth it.

Crumble ‘em up, put’ em in some shitty soil (good dirt with poop nutrients), keep 'em moist and in the dark.

They’re mushrooms. Don’t really need much to grow. I imagine growing them would be similar to growing any mushroom.

You can order shroom spores online in most US states, they are not considered controlled substance since they contain no psilocybin. Get yourself plastic bag of sealed instant rice at the grocery store and get some micropore tape at the pharmacy. Then, inject the spores into the instant rice package (the spores should come in a syringe, shake it up well before injecting), seal the injection hole with micropore tape (it keeps out bacteria while allowing the growing mushroom mycelium to get the oxygen it needs to live, feel free to poke multiple holes and seal them with micropore tape as well for better gas exchange). It might take a week or two to start seeing mycelium growth in the instant rice bag, but as soon as you do, shake the bag vigorously to help distribute the mycelium around the bag (this helps it establish itself faster and outcompete any bacterial/fungal contaminants that may be present). Then wait another week or so (until the contents of the bag are firm to the touch and your view through the clear plastic part of the bag is entirely filled with white mushroom mycelium).

Next, buy some coco coir from a store that sells gardening supplies (it’s ground up coconut husk, apparently the mushrooms love it, and I’ve had success with it). Boil it in way more water than you think you’ll need (it nearly overflowed💀), and let it dry/cool down then pour that shit into a plastic tub. Get your fully colonized instant rice bag, open it up, and inspect it for contamination (anything blueish, greenish, or generally different in texture or color from the firm, white mycelium of the shrooms). If anything looks weird, cut it out from the block of mycelium. Then, break the mycelium into small chunks and bury the chunks in the tub of coco coir. You’re gonna want to get the ratio of coco coir to mycelium/rice in the tub no greater than 2 or 3 to 1 (if the mycelium has to travel too far between nutritious clumps of rice it won’t colonize the whole tub and contaminants will fill the empty space). Once you’ve got that done, you can pretty much just wait. As long as it’s in the 70s F and moderately humid in the tub, it’ll grow mushrooms within a week or two. You can shine a light on them during the daytime once the mycelium has colonized the whole tub to make it fruit slightly faster if you want.

Once it’s fruiting, harvest it, and don’t hesitate to mist more water into the tub if the mycelium starts to look dry. You can actually get like 4 or 5 harvests out of a tub and for a large enough tub, that can be a substantial amount of mushroom. Once you’ve harvested about that many times (or sooner if it gets contaminated or starts to look unhealthy), bury it outside on dirt and check up on it occasionally, sometimes it’ll fruit a few more times in the dirt.

I’m not in the U.S, but this is great advice, thanks!

I’ve looked for coco coir before, and I couldn’t find it in any shops, so I’ll probably have to order that online.

Mushrooms grow in shit. How sterile do you want it?

I mean, I’d get a bag of the same stuff you’d get for a vegetable garden. Also, be choosey with any fertilizer. You don’t want to be adding chemicals to something you’re gonna ingest.

I’m betting you can find some good books on gardening and mushroom farming at the local library (if those exist where you are). You’re gonna get a MUCH better result in anything you do if you learn about it instead of just winging it.

Not all fungi are saprotrophic, and there’s definitely different degrees of unsanitary. I wouldn’t want my stuff being grown in untreated human waste

Here in California, I rent a mailbox and get all my mail and packages there.

CFL bulbs?! No one buys those any more. LED bulbs have displaced them.

You should be able to get either type of bulb, plus the E27 sockets, at any hardware store. Maybe not PC fans but maybe you can use a small desk fan.

You might also want an activated charcoal canister air filter so your parents don’t smell whatever you are growing with those lamps.

I’d say no too. I don’t fully know your situation, but based on what information you’ve provided, I worry you’re blindly following a guide without thinking through the possible end game. If that’s true, I worry that you’re going to get caught and you’re going to get in a hell of a lot of trouble.

There’s no way to guarantee a delivery date so there’s no way to guarantee your parents won’t be home. Getting a PO box might work.

But I just wanna say I think what you’re trying to do is a bad idea. Not judging, just don’t want you to get in trouble.
