He was one of the most accomplished painters of his time. Phenomenal control of color and lighting.
The painter had a steady hand to be able to paint that on a boat with choppy water. Kudos!
Either that, a good memory, or a good ability to imagine realistic things.
Highly impressive either way!
I think artists often create quick pencil sketches to help them remember when they can’t whip out an oil canvas and paint on the spot.
But I’m sure that the centuries following the Roman Empire were only mid-evil.
They were actually MED-evil: medicinal evil happening in and around the Mediterranean 😉
When words used to mean what they mean…
Language has always evolved. Kind of annoying to crap on the next generation for doing the same things ours did. Gives off superiority vibes or old men shouting at clouds.
I personally love that language evolves and find it fun to learn new meanings. Guess you could call me based, no cap.
I agree. But I’d say it’s the person saying “social media has fried people’s brains” is the one that’s crapping. I’d say it’s his brain that’s fried if he can no longer recognise the original meaning of the word, other than slang.
Not how I read it. I think they’re saying (joking) that it’s not a mid ocean (average) they’re saying it’s a 9/10 one. Then joking that social media has fried peoples brains if they think that’s a mid (average) ocean. Hinting that people see so much stuff online they can’t appreciate beauty no more.
Semantic shift is one of the most common kinds of linguistic evolution I feel
Yeah, that’s why the hall in my house is 20 feet across and my ambidextrous president is taking bribes from anyone who wants to give him one, and the easter bunny is a giant squirrel.
