Sloppy Joan, teased since the fragile age of 6, was born into a household of neglect, of parents with restricted mental capacity. She arrived at kindergarten with soot on her face, graduated at 18 in tattered gown. No one told her she need not be concerned with Silver Spoon Barry’s opinions. He’s never lifted a finger to cultivate the pristine extravagance surrounding him. He knows of despair only when the fulfillment of desires is throttled by tardiness. No one told Joan her best is good enough. That the world itself knows entropy is beauty.

It always gets sloppier after a gag. Probably Barry just doesn’t have any experience with being part of a gag, the poor guy.

She’s been ordering water with her steaks, that’s for sure.

And that’s why we prefer Jay, Wally, and Bart. Barry did the right thing for the world, but his treatment of women who weren’t Iris wasn’t right.
