The raven paradox, also known as Hempel’s paradox, Hempel’s ravens or, rarely, the paradox of indoor ornithology, is a paradox arising from the question of what constitutes evidence for the truth of a statement.

    Took a minute to understand what the paradox is, least I think I got it, you can’t assume everything with a singular characteristic of the opposite statement is not the same type? Or did I miss something? But I can see how this would be used in ‘debates’ by those not wanting a true discussion and trying to make their point through less than logical process. It sounds right at first but then you think about it and realize no that’s not exactly correct but by then they start a new line of attack to keep you thinking of anything but the real substance of the debate…

    I do wish I understood abstraction better with logic, probably should take some philosophy classes.
