Honestly, makes a ton of sense for the county. The more cars you take off the road, the less taxpayer money you have to waste on doing yearly road repairs. Bikes have a microscopic amount of road wear compared to cars and trucks.
the only damaged bike lane in my town is the one that people drive on idiotically. its the dedicated turn lane to the highway onramp and a bike lane runs along it and continues on the overpass. people treat the bike lane and car turn lane combined as two car lanes only to compound merge on to the highway 80 meters later.
Every place should be doing this.
The ROI is significant, and every car you remove from the road is money saved by everyone.
