Disney: we need you to start a star wars trilogy. The first movie should be an original, action packed movie.
JarJar: I can make you an action packed movie!

original, action packed movieA shot for shot remake of the original with a few mysteries to keep people interested. No, the answers to the mysteries don’t matter, no we don’t need to outline the trilogy, we’ll figure it out as we go along.

Nah, Disney hasn’t asked for anything to be original in a decade or more.
Edit: four hours later and I just realized The Force Awakens is already about a decade old. 🙃
The problem is the-one-who-shall-not-be-named is that he is neither
He should have stayed on that island.
Actually, since the whole Star Wars ep 9 debacle, has he made anything? He has some executive producer credits. Maybe he learned his lesson and won’t insert random polarbears, err, force diads, in for no reason.
I’m still surprised Hamil went along with it. They couldn’t have done it without him and the whole way they treated Luke was bullshit to make Rey look better
They drove a dump-truck full of money up to my houuuse! Aaughahaaa! I’m not made of stone!
Rereading the OG Thrawn trilogy again, it’s the only sequel trilogy I’ll ever need.
Disney: Well, we may have made a big misstep with that first movie, let’s get a different director to come in and make sense of everything to continue the story in a coherent manner without making it seem like a blatant cash grab by doing a complete retelling of the second movie.
RJ: I’ll move the giant walker fight on the white planet from the opening battle to the ending battle
Disney: you’re hired!
TLJ is brilliant and is second only to ESB in the saga.
Absolutely agreed, I’ll never understand the hate it gets.
It’s kind of meaningless when it’s sandwiched between 2 absolute abominations.
TRoS i totally agree.
TFA i think is lovely and it was a look at what making a modern SW movie could be, but totally fails at originality. that ends up hamstringing the sequels, sadly.
Eh, as far as I’m concerned the series just ends with TLJ. A bit of a downer, but by resetting the playing field to ANH’s dynamic of ragtag rebels vs empire it emphasizes the cyclical nature of violence and resistance in the Star Wars universe. It’s a good enough conclusion on its own.
yes. it was a really bold choice to make the sequels a duology, but i’m here for it. XD
