Honestly, life would be improved if people brought everything on fancy wooden planks. I would replace FedEx and UPS in a heartbeat if my stuff arrived like that instead of being spiked onto the ground like a volleyball.

My main issue with people doing it, and I have multiple, is that it isn’t just helping them with grammar and punctuation (I don’t have any problem with people having the little editor autocorrect). It is rewriting the message entirely. Many times the new AI produced message had nuance and tone either added or stripped out, and rarely it has added items entirely. I probably wouldn’t have noticed it if my CEO been had not been using it so heavily to restate what has already been stated elsewhere, especially in cases where I have read or written the original statement. Let me tell you that when you are told vehemently that you said something that you did not because of AI help it is beyond frustrating.
This is right up there with MS products replacing my double quotes with the stylized left and right quotes that end up fucking things up when copied into anything else. At least when I change them back, it doesn’t keep doing it like the really old versions of Word used to when they first added that sort of functionality (yes, i’m old).
I am well aware of his official explanation, but I personally think that’s bullshit. For the record, I am not in any way calling him a pedophile. His books just have a lot of fucked up shit in them, and this is one of them. I read IT when I was 13 and I kinda glossed over that part as well. When I re-read IT as an adult, I was like “holy shit”. I realize this was written during his coked up days, but that doesn’t make it OK to me. You are free to feel differently.
The “orgy” mentioned is almost certainly the gross group kid sex thing from IT. How do you defeat the evil clown demon, kid orgies apparently :(

zod000@lemmy.mlto RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Ninja Gaiden for DOS: rated M for "mistake"English1·5 days agoInteresting, I never saw either Thexder or Socerian in local stores at the time, nor I had even heard of them. It doesn’t look like GOG has them listed, but I’ll keep an eye out so I can possibly give them a try.
zod000@lemmy.mlto RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Ninja Gaiden for DOS: rated M for "mistake"English1·5 days agoCome to think of it, I think it was parallax scrolling that Id Software figured out that hadn’t been done properly before. I had never encountered any of the Japanese DOS games in the DOS days. I imagine there just wasn’t distribution of then in the US I guess. I would have loved to see some Nihon Falcom games.
zod000@lemmy.mlto RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Ninja Gaiden for DOS: rated M for "mistake"English2·6 days agoI loved both for what they were. There were a bunch of great arcade games ported to NES they were just totally different, but awesome games and both Ninja Gaiden and Double Dragon are on that list. Strider was a notable one too, where the NES was great, but so hard most people couldn’t get to see much of it.
zod000@lemmy.mlto RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Ninja Gaiden for DOS: rated M for "mistake"English3·6 days agoI don’t feel that those ports, or this Ninja Gaiden one, were horrible or “mistakes” (I owned this game and Megaman 3 for DOS). The PCs at the time didn’t have the specialized hardware to do smooth side scrolling, and John Carmack and crew’s novel way to do it without the hardware was still their secret. It was honestly the best side scrolling game you’d find on PC despite the jank.
At least the vibe coder is rocking some nice headphones.

zod000@lemmy.mlto Memes@lemmy.ml•Who Remember This? We Also Broadcasted It Live To Schoolrooms1371·10 days agoWe watched it live in elementary school, most of the kids didn’t get what had happened right away. Our teacher was just standing there stunned until an announcement came on the intercom asking all the teachers to turn it off. They didn’t say anything to us, just tried to pretend like we didn’t just watch people blow up live.
Well, it’s true, I don’t understand what the fuck I just read.
