I’m pretty sure it counts the dislikes of the people who also have the extension installed, and extrapolates from that.

Technology@lemmy.world•Is Perplexity the first AI unicorn to fail?English
51·14 days agoI’ve only heard of Perplexity because I got a free year from my cell provider. Also does anyone else feel like this article is missing punctuation or something?
I was scrolling by, and thought “this character looks an awful lot like Benedict Cumberbatch” and then I read the description and saw I was right.
This is pretty egregious, but honestly anyone who wants to buy it should. They deserve to
be swindledhave what they paid for. Anyone who doesn’t want to buy it, won’t.

Games@lemmy.world•GameHub Lite, GameNative and the Android PC Revolution: An Interview with the Developers (my article!)English
3·21 days agoI thought about GameHub when having trouble with Winlator. Read an article titled something like “I installed GameHub so you don’t have to.” Happy to hear there’s a less intrusive alternative!

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Future of media piracy in Android... would that still be possible after 2026/2027 when "sideloading" is restricted?English
1·24 days agoIf you’re wondering if you would still be able to plug your phone into your computer to put files on it, let me ask you a related question: Do you think Google would kill the ability to plug your phone in and take pictures and video off of it? I think the answer to that is pretty obvious.
I have the GameSir X2 Pro and I love it. It doesn’t fit your criteria as it doesn’t fold into pocket size but maybe this is a recommendation for the brand?

Books@lemmy.world•What book(s) are you currently reading or listening to? October 28English
3·1 month agoI’m trying to read the Black Company by Glen Cook, but I have so many hobbies and only so much time while the kids are asleep.
Also I feel like it’s worth mentioning for anyone scrolling by that Randall Munroe is the writer of the very popular webcomic xkcd and you’ve probably seen it before.

Books@lemmy.world•What book(s) are you currently reading or listening to? October 28English
3·1 month agoYou might be coming out of the slog! But maybe there’s a bit more to go. I love the series but it definitely has some issues, one of them being pacing.

Technology@lemmy.world•Your Kindle Can Finally Be Jailbroken Again. [22:00]English
10·1 month agoI lost mine in my house. Looked for it in April, couldn’t find it. In September I found it and the battery was at 56%.
Also you can’t read a tablet in direct sunlight.

Technology@lemmy.world•Your Kindle Can Finally Be Jailbroken Again. [22:00]English
12·1 month agoYeah Amazon and I have a pretty adversarial relationship about what I should be able to do on my Kindle, and my next device won’t be from them. But in the meantime I’m loving having my jailbreak back, and I made sure to prevent updates properly this time. Koreader is great and the thing even has a Gameboy emulator!

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL about the RetroArch emulator frontendEnglish
6·1 month agoWelcome! I got RetroArch installed on everything, but on Android I’m using Daijisho as a frontend, and it can also be your launcher. Just make sure you download RetroArch from the official website if you go this way, the version on the Play Store is horribly out of date.

Technology@lemmy.world•Breakthrough in Huntington’s disease treatment shows unprecedented results for patientsEnglish
22·1 month agoMy (half-) brother has Huntington’s. It killed his father, so he knew it was possible and he’s not having any children. He’s just turned 30 and just had its presence confirmed, but apparently he’ll be symptom-free until about 60. Hopefully we get more good news like this in the next 30 years.
I tried it out. Didn’t like the fixed number of home screen apps and needing to menu delve to increase the list size in order to add another app. I realize that doesn’t come up often, but Minimo didn’t have that problem.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Looking for software that will allow keyboard/mouse to output to tablet via usb
3·2 months agoScrcpy does this. If you delve deep into the options you can even set up keyboard input only, but the default is screen mirroring the tablet to the computer. As to whether or not it works before running your OS I’m not sure, because it works via ADB.
I’m pretty sure I own it in on four different storefronts and I’ve never paid for it. It’s a lot of fun but I stopped playing before I got to fly. I don’t remember why.

Dammit. I guess I should play it.

There’s a new pebble? Wow!
