Your review describes my feelings as well. Great movie; comic book fans should definitely go see it.
It has that “James Gunn movie” vibe to it, although not as funny as Guardians of the Galaxy or The Suicide Squad. I agree that it felt like the inclusion of some background characters was rushed – e.g. we didn’t really get a chance to care about the other people at The Daily Planet.
There was an article in Aftermath about how James Gunn has had a lot of success by making big movies out of smaller characters, and he seems to want to keep doing that (https://aftermath.site/james-gunn-suicide-squad-dc-comics, which is 404’ing right now, I’ll come back to it later and see if their links have changed). Maybe that was part of the problem here. I don’t really think it detracted much from the movie, though. Also, I don’t want to dwell too much on the half-assed Cat Grant, since Superman himself was absolutely perfect.
It has the same very fast-paced editing style as Guardians of the Galaxy 3, which I thought was kind of jarring, but apparently I was alone in that since everyone else really liked GotG 3.
It’s a screen cap from Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster, which was the movie for Monsterdon last Sunday. It’s significance is that 1) it is an impressively bad movie, and 2) this character held this grin on his face for like 15 seconds, which was funny.
This took me a second to get. Freaking great. :D
Wow, that things is gorgeous inside and out. I’m surprised the movement is so clean. Hope it all goes well!
This is so cool! Do you do many watch repairs, or is this a first attempt? And can we see the watch?
For those who aren’t familiar with this game, it’s in the same genre as Mount & Blade, but with spaceships instead of horses. Or Sid Meier’s Pirates, but spaceships instead of pirate ships. Definitely one of those “I’ll just make one more quick cargo run…” type of games.
This update looks great. In additional to new strategy options through diplomacy, they’re also tweaking how ships handle.
This is such a great writeup, thank you! I always can’t believe the actual photos I see of Group B races, lol.
Looks great! So is the tofu air fried, and the rest stir fried? Or steamed?
Thanks! I’m behind on a bunch of other issues, so I have plenty of things to read before getting back to those ones. But if I’m still looking in a couple weeks, I might have to take you up on that.
Short list today.

There’s a used bookstore near me that has the oldest cash register I’ve ever seen. It has keys like a typewriter, and makes the most satisfying “ka-ching” sound when it opens. They always use it to add up your purchase and print a receipt, even when you’re paying with a credit card. But I always try to bring cash when I’m there so that the drawer gets used. (And also, y’know, screw credit card companies taking their cut.)
I know that’s not really “in widespread use” today, which is probably what the question meant, but that was the first thing that came to mind for me.
Thanks for the reminder that I should check mine.
