The crazy part about Fetterman is that he wasn’t tied down by the Democratic leadership. They backed McCormick, a pro-business centrist, during the senate primary, and they didn’t want him as lieutenant governor before that. He was a progressive wildcard that touted his independence from the party. He was always pro-Israel, but he was also pro-healthcare for all, pro-marijuana legalization, supported human rights and a progressive tax code. His heel-turn has been shocking and baffling, and lost him most of his supporters. Fetterman could be primaried from the left or yhe right, and he will probably lose either way. He could switch parties, but there aren’t enough batshit Republicans in PA to make up for his flaws.

Not only does he have rhythm, he has an entire subset of rhythms named after him.

If it were manifest, we wouldn’t be having the discussion. A single example would prove me wrong.

The thing is, I can relate a bit. I voted for Fetterman, and I have been extremely disappointed by his turnaround.

The difference is, Fetterman is not doing what he said he would do. Trump is doing exactly what he said he would do.

I think businesses are already seeing the effect of a lack of similar action. Young people are going out much less, drinking much less, spending less, and as described in this article, dancing less. There are a ton of other reasons for that (income inequality, inflation, political stressors, health and safety concerns, etc) but social media has had a deleterious effect on the economics of social gatherings.

And don’t forget, that guy experienced a shit ton of bullying before the hive mind decided that he was worth protecting. Most viral video sensations don’t get that second part out of their 15 minutes of fame. They just get the bullying and shame.

What a poorly written article, is what I thought before I realized this is the official press release from the federal government.

When I was young, the phrase “dance like nobody’s watching” became popular. I remember thinking it was true, most of my anxiety about dancing was a fear of being judged by someone else. I’d see other people dance and think that they aren’t doing anything special. They aren’t dancing well or doing crazy moves. They are just jumping around and having a good time. “Jump Around” was like just one of five hit dance songs about jumping. But I resisted because I thought people would think my dancing looked silly. And they’d be right, I was and remain a terrible dancer. I’m awkward, arthritic, and lacking in coordination and rhythm.

But there was no social media. No cell phone cameras. No internet. If someone did get a picture or even a video, it might be months before a small select group of people saw it. Hell, even if your bad dancing somehow made the news, it would still only be seen by the regional viewers watching that evening.

Today, if you’re a bad dancer, you could be filmed without your knowledge or permission, and become a viral sensation for millions of people to see.

If I were young today, there’s no chance in hell I’d be out on the dance floor.

Bullshit. Governing is compromise, but politics is bullshit. I mean that in the literal sense. To get what you want politically, you have to push the overton window so that you can govern towards the middle. But the middle between reasonable and fascism is not a great place for governing anyone.

I’m with you completely, I’m just feeling grumpy today.

I mean, that’s a really low bar. I like Pete, and I would certainly vote for him instead of just about anyone in any position of government. But I do think our standards have been lowered to the point where “not a nazi shitbag” is going to put him in the upper echelon.

I understand why he’s a threat to them, I just don’t understand their battle strategy. Everything they do to attack him elevates his profile and makes actual Democrats suspicious of the oligarchs.
