Plenty of progressives who lean on the “vote-with-your-wallet” rhetoric. Can never be too careful.

what was WAP again? Rings a bell
tetris11@feddit.ukto UK Politics@feddit.uk•Labour needs to take the radical left seriouslyEnglish2·19 hours agoI feel like we’re aggressively agreeing with each other, but I still hold issue with labeling a rational viewpoint to mitigate a crisis in an orderly and timely fashion as radical
tetris11@feddit.ukto UK Politics@feddit.uk•Labour needs to take the radical left seriouslyEnglish3·21 hours agoYou don’t see the problem in framing the first part of your comment as “radical”, even though you yourself admit that it’s a pretty mild and rational viewpoint?
That’s free-market naïveté . No one has the time to be an expert in every field to always make the informed choice.
Do you read the labels on tangerines to check which antibiotics were used against citrus-greening? Do you even know if that’s something you should be worrying about? Is Anti-Microbial Resistance something to legitimately be afraid of when buying tangerines?
(I leave this as an exercise for the so-called informed reader…)
Mourn for this man, not for his choices but for his lack of them; a store selling expired milk should be put out of business by the authorities, not by a mob of post-poisoned shoppers.

Ah I see thanks
Ben Eater has a great video on it.
I’m not watching a video, but appreciate the pointing in the right direction
USB sends a dummy zero every few consecutive 1s for framing purposes
Huh, TIL about Bit-Stuffing and Framing Bits
Bit stuffing is the insertion of non-information bits into data … is used for various purposes, such as for bringing bit streams that do not necessarily have the same or rationally related bit rates up to a common rate
Framing is the process by which, while receiving a stream of fixed-length frames, the receiver identifies the frame boundaries, permitting the data bits within the frame to be extracted for decoding or retransmission. A common practice is to insert in a dedicated time slot within the frame, a noninformation framing bit that is used for synchronization of the incoming data with the receiver.
Surely that only works on a USB that is already zero’d out (meaning nothing to change)?
I wonder if this benchmark holds true on a USB that has seen some action and needs to commit large number of zeroes in random dereferenced space?

So I was reading up about it a little, and apparently the lady did get some kind of spoken agreement from the priest that she could restore it:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-19349921
“(The) priest knew it! He did! How could you do something like that without permission? He knew it!”
and the priest then washed his hands of her once she botched it.
That being said, the piece is getting so much attention that the little church is raking in donations, and the woman is now sueing for a piece of the pie:
