I understand why those people were unhappy about all the covid restrictions but yeah I know that the organizers were racist and that makes the whole thing questionable at best.

I mean yeah some people who refused to get the vaccine could lose their job and all. That was pretty bad in some sense but you have to understand that when there is a pandemic it’s important that if a vaccine is out and ready to take it not only for your safety, actually you could be just fine without it yourself, but for the safety of others around you too and those who are weaker. If not taking a vaccine will endanger others around you then you should either take the vaccine or not go to public places where there are many people who could be at risk of dying from the virus. What I was really against is the whole passport thing and how they tried to get you to use some app and tracking you through that which was a privacy concern for me.

If they think that will make more people support the conservatives they are very wrong, if anything it will do the opposite.

Can’t know for sure. But yeah I don’t really trust them. Privacy is very important to me and yeah mass surveillance is just bad. Privacy should be a human right. Sure mass surveillance could catch some criminals but it’s not worth spying on everyone just for a few bad apples. I don’t like this one bit.

That’s pretty bad. I don’t know if the conservatives would have done much better though in terms of privacy and mass surveillance. I would hope so but yeah Pierre wasn’t much help to the party and neither were people like Danielle Smith. Both parties just suck right now and need to change.

This is why we should all do the minimum to keep our job and not give our best. After all when you get paid minimum wage they shouldn’t expect you to work at your maximum. I remember at my job even after 2 years working there, when the minimum wage got up they didn’t raise my salary but just put me at the new minimum wage because it got raised a bit higher than the salary I was making and the new employee with no experience, literally his first job ever gets paid the same as me. And it was at this moment I stopped giving it my best.

Yeah they aren’t doing much to protect them.

I don’t date, no love and living? No I am surviving. Maybe I would if I was living and didn’t have worries of not being able to make it next month. And I think it’s a problem a lot of people have. I used to buy food without worrying too much about the cost, so I’d just get things I think were good, but now I bring limited amount of cash and just spend for what I deem to be essential. Because I know I can easily go over $100 of food in a week easily.

I am not from Ontario but I am guessing it’s not too different here, I am from Quebec and people here have this feeling of rushing things the moment they touch the wheel like they are always in a hurry, and I think it’s probably because of the culture of always needing to do things and want things fast so everyone loses patience and don’t wanna lose any time. I seen people even when not driving putting themselves at risk just to save a few seconds. And if you drive at the speed limit people hate you because they think you’re going too slow.

They don’t need to go that far, I am just saying this is simple enough to do. Probably more complex for big corporations but the big corporations have the means to pay for their more complex system. As for small business this is simple enough. I am not saying they should build all their own hardware from scratch. And yes data is important and its better not to rely on some third party like I said what happened with cloudstrike affected so many and cost millions in damage. Same as so many company rely on Microsoft for everything. What’s so bad about not needing to trust another big corporation with all your data and your business?

Depends on what you need, if you’re a small business you won’t need much and it won’t cost as much as if you’d run a big business. Anyway, the whole point was to be more self reliant, how is being self reliant a bad thing? Why should you give all your information and trust a third party with everything you have?

I think you could easily hire people who do that job at your company or someone who maintain it at least or some contractors.

Well companies can also have their own servers. It would even be better than relying on a third party where when the company does a mistake then all their clients (other companies) are affected. The Cloudstrike bug would be a good example of that.

I mean that’s good and all and I am sure those companies are way better than those big American tech companies but my point was about not having to depend on another company. Because you have to trust them with your information and just because it’s Canadian doesn’t mean they are good automatically. Another advantage of self hosting is if for any reason you lose internet access you still have access to your local network and all your files and passwords when you need them. This is also why it’s important to not create a dependence on any online services. Like if this site were to shut down I wouldn’t lose much, I would just lose my posts which to me aren’t that important as people have read them already.

I think we should stop relying on cloud completely. The cloud is just someone else’s computer. More should learn about self hosting and not depending on some other corporation to hold all your files and data. I already self host many things myself so as to depend less on other companies and being more independent.
