I would have to say EES (Engineering Equation Solver), as I’m a thermal engineer. Or potentially MATLAB with the CoolProp installed. They are quite brilliant tools, not to mention fun to work with!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What Youtube channel has maintained high quality standards over the years?
5·3 months agoI feel like Ethoslab deserves a mention. He’s basically making the exact same great fun Minecraft videos as I, a grown ass man, remember from my literal childhood!
Whenever I see this meme I’m always reminded of the Elvis song “Don’t”, so no I’ll have that stuck in my head the rest of the day. Great! Thanks! 😀

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL the US Navy maintains a private forest to supply the wooden ship USS ConstitutionEnglish
42·6 months agoBack in the early 2000s the people responsible for maintaining the national forests of Denmark, wrote to the navy that the oaks planted after the British destroyed the danish navy during the napoleonic wars, were now ready for shipbuilding!
I always thought it was quite amazing that the knowledge that these trees were set aside to rebuild the navy survived in the institution for some 200 years.
It’s not to do with breaking thermodynamics. The grains of salt simply act like little so-called “nucleation points” where the bubbles can form easier. That’s why you’ll often see the water suddenly boiling and bubbling violently just as you add salt.
The water was “superheated” above the boiling point, but didn’t have imperfections in the pot which allowed the bubbles to form easily.
I completely agree! I guess there are more people on Lemmy using android than iOS. It’s a bit more in line with the ethos I guess? And Mlem is only iOS.
I used to be android as well, but honestly I won’t ever go back I don’t think. But to each there own
I second that! It’s great. I tried a few different ones at the start, then tried Mlem and never looked back.
I wish I could updoot (what’s the Lemmy term again?) twice! Sumatra is the GOAT on windows. And as I recently found out can be installed without admin-privileges, meaning I could install it on my work PC and get away from the horrible mess that is Adobe Acrobat!

On their website (energydome.com) they claim “75%+” round trip efficiency, so not a bad guess!
