Pedantic non-american here, annoyed by the use of the word ‘oatmeal’ to refer to a cooked dish instead of the raw ingredient. The photo shows porridge. Oatmeal is merely the main ingredient in that porridge.

I successfully read one recently! I was watching sumo, and they show the wrestlers names first in kanji, than add the romaji later, and I saw that trident looking one at the end of a name and I thought -i know that one, that’s mountain, so could be -yama, or maybe -zan, at the end of the guy’s name, and tried to guess who was coming out next. Turned out it was Kinbozan, so i was right, but also meh.

Oh, it’s kinda the same as the similar sounding concepts in software. DRY = Dont Repeat Yourself vs WET = Write Everything Twice (aka We Enjoy Typing)

Changes that big need to be broken down into smaller PR-sized steps. To do that you need an actual plan of how to get from here to there. Bro is swaggering like a senior then coding like a junior.

What to do? Well now you have evidence that AI tools are not yet good enough to write code that doesn’t need human review before deploying to prod. Chat with whoever is in charge of Process, and get some team guidelines in place to prevent unreviewed code going to prod, and unreviewable PR’s being submitted for review.

That show seemed like the kind of thing that would tail off and get boring, but it just kept getting better. And weirder.
