WTH, the episode really went “this is truly Takopi’s Original Sin”. Like Marina, I didn’t see that coming because I thought his original sin was breaking the rule about lending Happy Devices unattended. I’m now very interested on what happens next.
The way Shizuka reacted after “that” was unsettling, yet very plausible. I’m typically annoyed by people who act like Takopi (aka Pollyannas), but the way his character is portrayed is very cathartic, as if it validates why the way he sees things just doesn’t work in the long run, because he just does not get it.
The way this anime showed Shizuka’s despair is some of the best. Period. It really feels so hopeless and dejected and tragic.
