Funny the top part of the tree with background sky looks lighter and spotty in this picture, but not on the actual paper!
I’m trying out Krita, too (Linux version, I didn’t think it’s that different). I’m tinkering trying different things, drawing lines, filling in between lines I’ve drawn, making shades and textures. Today I tried some watercolor brushes to make a sky and field, they don’t look much like watercolor, though. I’m going to watch more videos on using Krita.

3·23 days agoThis is the same thing with a darkened shadow. I did this my accident in Krita, but I don’t know how I did it.

This looks darker in the picture than it really is.
Did you do the tree and branches first or the snow?

5·1 month agoI’ve seen a lot at local (suburban) art fairs, usually in the summer, spring and fall. Even at some summer festivals they’ll have a craft fair area and there is always someone selling their art.

2·1 month agoI like the detail in the rocks, too. Comparing the closer area to the further shore line gives it good perspective. I’m trying to figure that out myself. I think you did well.
Only valuable because originally framed by my wife! 🤣
I think some of that is the photo I took, so slighter than it looks, but I’ll make that a little darker so that doesn’t show. I was trying to make it show different than other areas, and try to make it look more distant above the fog. I had the nearest fog darker before so that added a little more contrast. Thanks for the tip, I’ll see what I can do.

This is what it looked like before I started adding blue and grey to the sky.
The texture is the paper. I’m using some metal strapping I cut and bent, the texture shows more when I’m pressing harder while sliding across the paper
Thanks for the ideas. I’ve been looking at scenes of fields (photos) and watercolor fields. I don’t really see how to change what I have to give it the correct effect of depth, but I think I have an idea of what to do for a next try. I’m going to tinker in sketch book with colors and shades to see if I can figure this out.
This was done with acrylic paint, paint brush, metal package strapping edge, and a toothpick.

Maybe the wrong mix of green, too.
