“Books were only one type of receptacle where we stored a lot of things we were afraid we might forget. There is nothing magical in them, at all. The magic is only in what books say, how they stitched the patches of the universe together into one garment for us.” Professor Faber

I appreciate your explanation! My mother and her generation never spoke of perimenopause, menopause, or even periods and their issues in general. I’m an elder millennial with a Gen X friend and we talk about it pretty often. My older colleagues have also started being open about their experiences, we pass info along to each other via email.
It’s so nice to see the information becoming more talked about, especially since I’m getting into the perimenopause phase of life.

Most mornings, my big boy bunny does zoomies around the living room. He runs from one end of the house to the other end as fast as he can.
Every morning, my tiny girl bunny runs around doing zoomies and binkies when she knows she is about to get her breakfast.
When they aren’t running around like crazybuns, they have to always have their butts touching. If they are laying down, sitting, in the litter box, etc, their butts have to touch.
Here is my big boy (left) and my tiny girl (right). Having bunnies makes me smile every single day.

Very cute kitty. Please give head and cheek scritches from me! 💚
Oh that’s good to hear! I love SNW, that will be fun to see him in.

Currently reading The Christmas Swap by Talia Samuels
It’s a cute, festive, rom-com that is perfect for this time of year. Guy asks gal to be his fake date for the holiday family gathering. Gal meets his cute sister and falls for her. Fun holiday chaos ensues.
I’ll finish this by later today, then give myself a blind book date to read for Christmas Eve.

No problem
I do this too! I bought a couple of mini notebooks so I can keep my shopping lists in my purse.
Thanks! That’s a book I’ve never heard of, I’ll definitely check it out.

I know this is a meme space, but since there are quite a few comments about whether this is homophobic or not, I’ll leave this article here. Judge for yourself.

100% agree and its like you took the thoughts out of my brain. The people I know who watch short form videos a lot have no attention span or patience. I agree that lack of reading, and IMO streaming services like Netflix, also contribute to this.
I’m very happy/lucky that my city has a pretty good reading community and lots of indie bookstores. I’ve become a lot more vocal about reading and books when I talk to people offline, even though most don’t read. I just want to encourage others to read, a lot of the nerdy shirts I used to wear have turned into indie bookstore shirts so I can advertise. I talk about my local libraries, again I’m lucky to have 4 branches I can access: 1 county and 3 city circulations. I encourage people to use the library for printing (it’s cheaper than that big corpo store you use and the money stays in your community), borrow books or movies, use digital services, and different book sales and musical events.
If I can’t do much in the big picture, I’ll at least promote as much as I can to help people I have direct contact with.
I’ll preface my comment with: I love the series and it’s probably my favorite scifi series of all time. I recommend it any time I hear someone even contemplating reading it.
I think book 4 is the worst of the series and it’s still good. The story progresses really well, I love the planet they are on, most of the characters are good. That said, I hate the chapters from Elvis’s perspective. I don’t like book 4 Elvi, but I like her chapters later in the series and I like show Elvi.
It really is where the series picks up and seriously takes off. I could talk Expanse all day, I love it so much. It’s right up there with Star Trek in my book :)
Oh yes! I have the short story collection and I read them in between books on my second time through. They are fantastic! I participated in the Kickstarter for the Dragon Tooth comics, they gave out some cool little things with it. The DT comics are really good too. I will def look into Wes’s stuff, I love that guy. I know Amos is everyone’s favorite character, I like him too, but Miller is my favorite. I wish I could find more scifi noir books with characters like him.
I did pick up the first book in their new series, I haven’t read it yet though. I keep hearing good things, but I want to wait until book 2 is closer because I know I’ll want to dive right in. Unless the authors seriously fuck up the series, or any of their series for that matter, they are pretty much guaranteed to get some of my money. I adore their science fiction stories so much and they are great writers.

I’m the opposite, light mode hurts my eyes so I change to dark mode everywhere. I also love bright lights and open windows, I still have to use dark mode because the bright light backgrounds give me headaches.
I commented above that Project Hail Mary was on a list of books I wish I could forget and read again for the first time. The Expanse is THE series I wish I could forget and read again for the first time. It’s so stinking good!
I finished it shortly after the last book came out in 2021 and I still haven’t read anything that hooked me as hard as series that did. I’ve been chasing that high ever since.
There is a list of books that I wish I could forget and read again for the first time, Project Hail Mary is one of them. I loved that book so much that I talked my father in law into reading it and he loved it. I’m probably going to reread it once before the movie comes out. I’m so excited for the movie because I love the book and I’ve been a fan of Ryan Gosling since his Young Hercules days.

I don’t get TikTok or short form videos. They are mostly nonsense that just shortens the attention span of viewers. Or the trends and dumb challenges, like why does everyone just repeat the same thing as everyone else? Is it just to “be cool”? Because it’s not cool, it’s dumb, you just look like a stooge or a sheep. Or the ones where people mouth the words and put some movie line audio over it? Like wtf is that? It’s all so mind numbingly dumb!
Also, I don’t understand a lot of the music kids listen to these days. It started when I first heard dubstep, it’s progressed to a lot of the stuff that gets popular. Just give me some good old punk rock or 90s punk/pop-punk and I’ll be happy.

I noticed this when I was out for a walk one day and a couple of high schoolers passed by. I had to do a double take because they legit dressed like me and my friends back in high school…almost 25 years ago 😑
I hope you find something you enjoy!
i was looking for this suggestion and I second Christopher Moore. His books are absurd and hilarious.
