  • I know this is late, but in case someone else find this, in the Software Manager, there is a package called

    Himadari

Which is a flatpak and claims to play video wallpapers. I have not tried nor endorsing it, in the description it mentions “Similar functionality to Xwinwrap + mpv or Komorebi, with more features.” So I assume those are alternatives as well.

  • I stopped caring about movies about 10 to 15 years ago, grew up with 80s and 90s action movies (kung fu, needless explosions, martial arts, sci fi, etc), today it’s all about politics and rehashing old ideas and destroying older franchises in the process trying to pander to the woke culture. I had strong and independent boss babe fatigue over a decade ago. The first couple of Avengers movies were the last that interested me, that went to shit too. Honestly I need to get paid to watch a movie now, the last time I went to a movie theatre was for the Hobbit and was mostly let down as well for different reasons.

  • It’s supposed to work without issues

    https://www.protondb.com/app/1663850

    Common user mistakes

    • not installing proprietary nvidia drivers from Menu, Driver manager if they have nvidia card (AMD and Intel use kernel space driver so no user input required, it just works…if it doesn’t remember the kernel version includes drivers from when it was issued, new kernel means new driver so if new card…there you go, old card, get older kernel).
    • linking games from NTFS formatted drives or partitions in order to avoid redownloading their game library, this is wrong, the game needs to be downloaded and stored on Linux drive or partition, usually it uses ext4 filesystem
    • not using the correct Wine or Proton version.

  • To be clear, assuming you are using Cinnamon, installed programs will be listed in the Menu (Start button equivalent), find the “app” icon there, right click on it and there is the option to add to the panel or make a desktop icon. Special cases for appimage might require a different approach, idk what program/app you have and how it was installed and I realize this is an old thread just making the comment in case someone else find this. At any rate appimage is a containarize, portable format that contains all dependencies inside and it does not “install”, you just download it, right click on it to make it executable and then it opens and runs. The downside is that it will not include itself in the Menu, taskbar or anywhere, the file is where you downloaded it to like /home/user/Downloads and that’s it, if you want it uninstalled, just delete the file, if you want it “installed” as in the file to be stored in another directory, then copy it or move it there. To make shortcuts might involve, likely using anohter package meant for handling appimages (from the image shown it does not appear to have the appimage icon, just saying this for general knowledge). Flatpaks and snaps are also containarized but they install on the PC, they just don’t share resources, but will be found in the Menu and easy to make shortcuts.

I just tried to make a program called nitrogen which is installed from repo and does not automatically get a menu listing,

    • right click on desktop and select Create new launcher
    • write the name of the “launcher” (desktop icon) and the command, assuming it’s a native program and don’t know the command you can select Browse then go to /usr/bin/ and find and select the program you want
    • when finalizing a prompt will ask if the launcher should be included in the Menu, select yes
    • go to Menu, All Applications, find the newly created launcher, right click and select add to panel.

These were tested on 22.3 Zena Cinnamon.

  • My gripes with reddit is that

    • it’s American and that paints everything about world views and content
    • it’s American so as a “product” of sorts it has to be ever growing and lately that growth has been through bots and griefting, people and bots genuinely spend time griefting to boost engagement because negative views and cultures makes people angry and when they are angry they post more, so the site gets more traffic more often, cool innit? Oh and censorship with regards to the orange clown, not just on reddit but also youtube and other American sites where in the past you could say anything, now you need to use euphemism and replacement words to get passed bots banning comments automatically.
