I travel internationally a lot, many places I’ve visited routinely take your picture with some kind of a facial recognition computer system as part of the customs process. I guess I just don’t have a huge problem with it, it’s part of the price I pay for being a guest in another country.

I think 2016 proved that we should actively ignore them and not get complacent based on poll numbers.

Wow talk about racist. The name Fuentes comes from Spanish and French origin, which are mostly white people. Also 10-15% of Mexico’s population is white. To assume someone is non-white because their last name is Fuentes is actually hilariously racist.

They also do this in Japan, Singapore, India, and several European countries, too. It’s interesting to me that you singled out China here. Why is that the US has to be more like China, but not more like Japan or India or Germany?

I work in an industry that doesn’t sleep, that doesn’t mean I’m putting in more than 40 hours a week on a regular basis. But we need someone to be on-call over the weekends in case there is an emergency. And when I do, my boss lets us take additional time off later in the week to make up for it. You guys are making crazy assumptions based off nothing.

That works great if you have the space to do so. I live in a very small home by myself and I really don’t have that kind of space around.

Its not a uniquely “me” problem, I’ve talked to plenty of other people who feel the same way as I do. I’m not talking about putting in extra time when I’m not supposed to be at work. I’m just talking about how it “feels” to constantly by in your workplace like that. I personally think it kinda sucks. I’m sure other people can deal with it fine, but I live in a small house where I don’t really have a separate room like a basement office or something I can dedicate to being my workspace. I might feel differently about it if I had the space.

Benchmarks are readily available, I have a 5080. Some DX11 and older games do run slightly better on Linux. But a lot of them don’t. And pretty much 100% across the board DX12 games run 10-30% slower on Linux compared to Windows. Nvidia has even acknowledged the issue and claims to be working on a solution.

I liked working from home at first, but after so long it becomes harder and harder to leave your work at “work” when your workplace is also your home. Now I am back in the office and actually prefer it that way. I have the flexibility to work from home on weekends or when I need to be home for some reason, which is good enough for me.

I know I am a display tech nerd, but can people really not tell the difference? Even going from a 1440p to a 4k monitor to me was a very noticeable improvement to clarity. And there’s a huge difference in the way that games look on my living room TV in 1080p compared to 4k.

You are incorrect about natural immunity and COVID, studies have shown that the immunity is roughly equivalent. They both fade within a 60-90 day period. Source 1, Source 2. In fact the first source I linked to found that hybrid immunity through both vaccination and recovering from infection naturally provided the most robust protection against future infection.

I personally am not interested in getting new booster shot every 60-90 days. I’ll take my odds. Hospitalization rates in healthy adults are incredibly low. The current hospitalization rate is 1.2 people in every 100,000. That’s like 0.000012%. I’ll take those odds.

I disagree with your characterization of Kirk as just being a “right-wing populist” and denying that he held views that were deeply racist, antisemitic, sexist, homophobic and transphobic. He was a white supremacist and a Christian Nationalist. Lets not beat around the bush. From an outside perspective it appears that you’re trying to minimize that or even outright deny that it’s true.

I would argue that neither of those facts disqualify him from being antisemitic.

He was definitely antisemitic to some degree. Just look at what he’s said about Jewish people:

Totally get it for at-risk individuals. But I’m a young person in relatively good health, I’ll take my chances at building the natural immunity from infection.

I feel like you’ve cherry-picked a few examples of claims people have made that are disprovable while conveniently ignoring some of the more reprehensible things Kirk said and believed.
