The title is a lie. The constant is an average, not a minimum. The point being that that average stays around 1 hour even if the transportation methods become better and faster. Meaning that people rather broaden their travel radius than shorten their travel time if travel means become better.
I’ve been trying that lately, its not worth it.
That’s funny, because I always thought it was knapsack. That’s a bit of language interference, because in dutch a bindle is called a “knapzak”
Obviously, but not everyone is a good parent. What happens to those kids?
If you put it like that, than I can see how birds are nightcore dinosaurs.
Unfortunately that’s not how it works.
This makes me wonder. Is there a zombie episode in Star Trek?
Exactly. You don’t have to “let go”, but rather you have to “process”. You have to give your emotions, memories and experience a proper place so that you can continue on making new emotions, memories and experiences. Good and bad. If you can’t do that, you might want to seek out a proffesional to help you with that.
I do an hour and a half single trip. It’s only twice per week and it’s by train. So I read a book or I bring my steamdeck. I really don’t mind it. I’d be less happy if it was 5 days per week. I’d still be going by train, but also looking for a better job.
I’m sorry for the confusion, I was using the old housewives definition of species.
It would be great to have a restriction stronger than “are you 18 years or older?” so I can let my kids roam the internet without care. But this is a bit backwards.
Some species are contesting that statement very strongly. Take the horseshoecrab, or the tardigrate or even the cockroach. Humans are known for their fast adaptability, so I’d bet my money on us joining that list.
To fail implies there was an attempt
That’s kinda my problem with Lemmy. Too many doomthinkers.
Can someone define it in a modern context?
