Zachariah@lemmy.worldto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Adam Savage's Tested: Why This Star Trek Starship Was Canonically Painted YellowEnglish9·21 hours agoOf the many Star Trek starship models we saw at this year’s Wonderfest modelmaking show, this is one that’s actually a 1:1 prop replica instead of a scaled down model! Eric Gonzalez is one of the Star Trek fans obsessed with this model of the Constellation Class ship seen in Captain Picard’s ready room from Star Trek: The Next Generation, and has built this replica using the same source kit parts and greeblies that Rick Sternbach and Andrew Probert did with the original prop! We learn why the production team made chose this distinctive yellow color for the ship, how that fits into Star Trek lore, and why this is one of rare places you’ll find Japanese Mecha in Star Trek kitbashing!
It has a primer coat for testing the four-nacelle configuration. There was a model of it with this paint job in the ready room, implying a full size ship it was based on.

Zachariah@lemmy.worldto Leopards Ate My Face@lemmy.world•Trump-voting family stunned after Canadian mother detained over immigration statusEnglish2·1 day agoYeah, you’re right. Ends don’t justify means. Even if it put an end to ICE, it is at the price of human suffering I would be directly causing. That’s what’s been stopping me.
I had to ask though because everything is just so terrible, it’s hard to know what to do about anything with what minute amount of power I have to actually change anything.
Zachariah@lemmy.worldto Leopards Ate My Face@lemmy.world•Trump-voting family stunned after Canadian mother detained over immigration statusEnglish7·2 days agoWould it be ethical to call ICE on people whose spouse is an immigrant (legal or not) or even just brown skinned when they themselves voted for Donald? Could this lead to enough face eating they might actually revise their views?
