  • I think this is an important point to consider, but the emphasis is being shifted when it really shouldn’t - yes, pain is hell, and it makes life hard, even unbearable, but you know what radicalises pain patients? The brick walls we hit and slaps in the face we get at every turn when desperately seeking help and support from a system and institutions based on so many levels of bias and discrimination and exclusion (capitalism, ableism, sexism, racism, classism, queerphobia, fatphobia and on and on), designed to keep us out of sight and out of mind. Being dismissed as “hysterical”, a liar, a drug seeker, a lazy burden, a scrounger, fat, “uncooperative” (like when autistic people struggle to make eye contact, or in too much pain and trauma to communicate calmly). Being locked up, institutionalised, or just completely ignored. Being told it’s “too expensive” to provide us with quality of life, but rather encouraged to be “assisted” in disposing of ourselves instead, or doing it for us with lack of funding and support.

Yeah, being marginalised radicalises you, but not because of who you are, but because of the systems of oppression designed to marginalise you, which others simply have the privilege of not being directly impacted by (which in far too many cases results in not even believing they exist, which of course serves to maintain them).

  • Nowhere is it even implied that community on its own will stop capitalism, but without it you will achieve no meaningful change.

Like, who the fuck do you think you’re going to be toppling the government and doing socialism with? How the fuck do you think you get people today to understand the value of doing that? How do you gather enough human mass to enact it?

I’m all for a violent abolition of our existing establishments, but this hostility that seems to be coming out of people towards the mere suggestion of the importance of community building is really odd…

You will never get anywhere without a community.

  • I’m not trying to trivialize those things

    Never said you were

I’m saying it could be interesting to have the option for something more real with how over the top a lot of the Sims has become.

Which reflects to me that you have never had these experiences yourself, hence what I did say - this is privilege wanting to roleplay as marginalised, which is pretty weird, to put it mildly.

I mentioned things getting whitewashed because it’s not something I’d want played off as nothing or purely positive.

But something partially positive? Any gamification of homelessness and poverty and other human suffering is whitewashing, your idea, at it’s core, is a whitewash.

I could see EA being tasteless and depicting homelessness as something like another eco living DLC.

So why would you ever want them (or any other company for that matter, that would do just as bad a job because this isn’t something anyone could do a good job at) to even try?

Yeah, I can see no redeeming qualities to this idea.

  • Lol, you mean the state capitalists? You’re not making the (weak, “whatabout”) point you think you are, but hey, your confidence in your wilful ignorance in defence of those exploiting you for profit* is almost impressive! (but not really) 🙄😂

*E: and guess what, I don’t even need to know where you live to say this, because every working class person on the planet is currently being exploited for profit through both labour and war, but don’t let that get in the way of the bootlicking you’ve come here to do in self-destructive defence of your beloved capitalism (I threw up in my mouth a little)…
