Hence the idiom “canary in a coal mine” for early detection of a failure. Miners used to carry a caged bird with them to detect pockets of deadly gasses. If the canary suddenly drops dead, it’s time to get the hell out.

16·2 days agoThe best part is Slay the Spire 2 started development as a Unity project, but the devs switched to Godot in response to that Unity runtime fee fiasco a few years ago. Unity lost out on any royalties from one of the biggest indie games ever and Godot got a ton of visibility because of their idiocy.
Mechanicus, most likely.

Pulse of Truth@infosec.pub•Hacker broke into FBI and compromised Epstein files, report saysEnglish
6·2 days agoMost hackers aren’t even picking specific targets. They just scan every server they can connect to for various known vulnerabilities and go after whichever servers they can find a route into.
I can easily believe a hacker would break into a sensitive government server without knowing or caring about its contents.

A lot of memes are dumb. At least loss memes like these show creativity, and are a fascinating look into the human brain’s pattern recognition as well.
The guys in plate mail stand in a line because if they’re not clumped up they’re getting a Heat Metal instead, which is infinitely worse and probably a war crime.

1·2 days agoDidn’t the actual canceled Battlefront 3 by the original devs get leaked a few years ago? This seems more like a reboot before the reboot.
Still sucks that it got killed by the Disney buyout despite being complete and ready to ship. So many amazing projects have been canceled during changes in leadership, it’s infuriating.

1·2 days agoSomeone posted a great article about that game a while back. Was that what got you to try it?
How long does it take before everything clicks and you can play smoothly instead of constantly stopping to look things up? The core concept of a realistic investment simulator looks fun, but needing to know and follow all of the real life laws and regulatory minutia from decades ago sounds like a nightmare for a new player.
