Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why do people who try to convince others to switch to metric focus so much on the conversions?
3·10 days agoDude, we round that shit. But don’t worry, I got more precision that you can even fathom. Let’s go, 3333 μm… 33333nm… to the moon

7·10 days agoThat’s fair, I am pretty jealous of that 12 inches in a foot conversion. That a juicy one.
But then again, we rarely divide 1 or 10 of something. A third of a meter. 0.33333 meters? Wtf is that? Nah, just use centimeters instead. A third of a hundred. 33 cm! There we go. That’s the length of the rulers we had in school. I can even measure that shit using just my eyes.
Need even more precision? 333 millimetres, fuck it’s getting hot in here 🥵
I gotta chill out

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Alright, y'all were right, fuck Proton. This was the last straw for me.
3·17 days agoOh yeah, this is a very annoying pricing model. Proportionally very expensive for each individual part/product, but then a proportionally lower price for the whole thing. But in absolute amounts, more money was payed.
The closest example I can think of is fast food cup sizes.
What they want is for you to think “Hmm I need a VPN and an email, but it’s cheaper to just buy the whole unlimited package”

There was this video floating around a few years back about a guy singing happy birthday to himself, sitting with a muffin and a single candle. In the middle of the song he pauses and just disappears in thought for a moment, before finishing the song. It’s sad as hell.
That fucking video gets me every time.
