Oooh don’t Lemmy communities all have associated Ibis instances now? And PieFed has their built-in community wiki too. We could assemble such a list in the wiki for this community, right?
I like knitting, math, and uplifting the proletariat.

Oh yeah, PHA3DESIGN sells both pure PHA and PHA/PLA blends, their pure stuff is (to the best of my understanding) fully home compostable. Any pure line of it should be, it’s just a matter of some companies being sneaky about whether it’s actually 100% PHA or not.
EcoGenesis I’m prettttyyyyy sure is pure PHA, mostly because they’re the ones who usually call other people out when it’s not. They ran spectrometry on this other brand (Regen) and posted publicly about it clearly being blended. Also their spools have labels with pretty hardcore and believable verification on them.
That’s so freaking cool… I don’t want to minimize what they went through to pull it off, and the horrors that led them to want it in the first place. However, I still really hope we see more and more of these popping up, and hopefully sticking around too!
Sounds like all the more reason 😈
It’s still that way unfortunately… but I think selection will start getting better soon! Right now there’s AllPHA, and the new EcoGenesis that I think recently spun off from the now defunct BeyondPlastic. But there’s a new line with way better selection called PHA 3DESIGN with good color selection and cool composites.
To the best of my knowledge, all 3 of those are sourcing their raw materials from the same company, with PHA 3DESIGN being closest to the source? They’re like a subsidiary or something. I’ve heard of a couple other companies gearing up to offer their own lines too, but it’s unclear to me so far where it’s sourced from. What we really need is for some awesome hobbyist to figure out how to spin up their own mini bioreactor setup and bring it in-house, but I wouldn’t know where to begin unfortunately.
Thank youuuu, I’m super stoked about it!
Now that it’s a thing, I always try checking the public Manyfold instance first! Do those federate here yet? Prolly something like @q8vfvg1f7m3k@3dprint.social ?
Game of Thrones
Ooh neat! Does any old filament work for silicone molding? I could imagine for some it might like stick or be harder to remove
This is really cool! What kinda plastic are you filling the molds with? I don’t know much about fishing lures
Love your show!!
Nothing to add, just wanted to say this is awesome lol
It’s funny I was literally just posting about my search setup today lol. So that’s all what I use, if any of that works.
In advance, I always plan to at least make them from biodegradable PHA so I’m not contributing to micro plastics. But also I hate wasting my precious PHA on it, because the stuff is so hard to get lol
Yeahhhh, the makerspace I work at gets constant requests for these kinda things and it irritates me to no end… Totally feel your frustration.
Ok, so searching for reliable info on this is (predictably) difficult because you get 80 pages of crypto shill websites. But i found this old article and the critique it lays out seems kinda damning.
That said, it doesn’t mention in the critique whether they propose any other alternative. And we do seem to need one, right? Some of the stuff that people buy with whatever bullshitcoin on the darkweb, is actually very necessary and/or policed for bad reasons. Like meds unobtainable in the garbage U.S. medical system.
It seems to me like every other day, we’re hearing that the major payment processors are banning some platform, or forcing some other platform to stop allowing adult content, etc etc. So ultimately I’m coming down on the side of “Monero is just more scammy nonsense”, but it also kinda seems like the only option I’m aware of…
Whoa this is awesome. There are soooo many obscure seeds I’d like to get, but that aren’t buyable! Definitely joining.
I’m enjoying !morphmoe@ani.social quite a bit. Basically the concept is, anthropomorphize weird random stuff, except make it cute. I wish there was more diversity in the character design, but it is an anime instance afterall I guess lol
This will be very exciting, when/if they ever perfect a photopolymer resin that is formaldehyde free, doesn’t depend on fossil fuel byproducts, and doesn’t degrade into some of the worst micorplastics out there.
