MrFinnbean@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•Is this month's Humble worth it if I'm not into Persona?English2·5 days agoI was going to write the same, but im glad you beat me to it.
Personally i like stories where he strugless more with how yo use his powers without becoming a despot.
Its so intresting tought experiment how much some one who is basically a god should intervine before it is too much.
At what point enforcing law becomes tyranny.
MrFinnbean@lemmy.worldto Canada@lemmy.ca•Canadians like the idea of public service for young adults. Should it be mandatory?351·11 days agoHi from Finland.
We have mandatory conspriction for men here, but everybody have option to serve civilian service instead where you basically work free for job goverment orders. Idea being if you dont fight in war you will have basic knowledge for some non fighting role during war time.
You get small pay during this and goverment pays your rent during the civilian service.
Personally i think its great system for a country that has unreliable and potentially hostile neighbor with large standing army and long border.
MrFinnbean@lemmy.worldto Comic Strips@lemmy.world•If There Was A Button That Made Everyone Amish22·12 days agoCant find any credible source that says Canada produces even near to that percentage of electricity with hydro.
I tought we were talking pollution as a whole.
Btw. Im little intrested now why your cabin producess so much sut? What fire wood you use as a fire wood in canada? What kind ovens you use? Is the chimneys straight pipes or what?
MrFinnbean@lemmy.worldto Comic Strips@lemmy.world•If There Was A Button That Made Everyone Amish22·12 days agoWhere in the world you live if 94% of energy comes from hydroelectricity? It has to be Norway that is pretty unique country in both culture and landscape. I dont think there is any other country where that is possible.
And i can admit that in Norway my points fall flat.
I dare to say that in the most of the world air quality is worse in the cities than in the countryside. Also i dare to say most of the time even where you live air quality is worse in the cities.
I dont really understand your point with the sut on the snow? If you live in the city the snow is grey and nasty meaning there is more pollution? Does that not mean there is less pollution in the countryside? Im mean per person there might be more in the rural areas, but i dont really think your lungs care.
MrFinnbean@lemmy.worldto Comic Strips@lemmy.world•If There Was A Button That Made Everyone Amish32·12 days agoYes and no. Chainsaw is really marginal polluter.
What warms your house in the winter? Where is dirtier snow? In your fathers homestead or in the city? Where is more generaly more particless in the air? In the countryside or in the city.
Wood is better than coal or oil, but worse than nuclear or renevables.
Small secret.
When companies compare performances they see only three categories. 0-1 star reviews are bad. 2-3 are okay. 4-5 are great.
This is because in the end the well written review you gave to the product after testing it for 100 hours and gave the product 4 stars because of the minor flaws is pretty much the same as some randomass teens hype review 5 stars.
In the end you both liked it and there is no urgent need to fix anything.
As a consumer you should just trust to the wisdom of the crowd to tell truth.

And yes atleas google is preloading emails. You can test it easily.
Open your gmail in browser. It shows you 50 first mails. Then disconnect your internet. You can open any of the 50 mails and read them in full. Even the large pictures load.
Also if you click from the “next page” arrow the 50 mail set you are in will open after disconnectin no matter how far you have gone in the history.
This works even with pc you are logging in the first time.
The speed this is happening is also good indicator there is server side preloading happening in addition to client side things.
So i say again. I would love to have some real numbers how much there is happening on the behind and with how many users. I feel like it is really insignificant total in the grand picture of the things, but it would be nice to know things instead of just feeling.
MrFinnbean@lemmy.worldto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•UK Asks People to Delete Emails In Order to Save Water During DroughtEnglish2·18 days agoYeah i know it is efficient. That does not chance the fact i would like to know the numbers.
Also client side is only the client side. I bet email services have plenty of SSR that start to happen the moment you are in the login window.
Im dont belive it has any real effect. Im just curious to hear any numbers so i dont need to trust my feelings and i can operate on facts.
MrFinnbean@lemmy.worldto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•UK Asks People to Delete Emails In Order to Save Water During DroughtEnglish32·18 days agoI would love to have some real numbers.
Emails have now days pretty large pictures and even moving things. I wonder how much companies preload mails. For example does gmail start to preload all the unread mails in the first page when i open my inbox? And if they do how much one mail needs processing power in average and how many people open their inbox everyday.
And how much of that preloading is necessary for good feeling service.
MrFinnbean@lemmy.worldto Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•In my country, the three official languages write the name of "pilipili" pepper in three different ways2·20 days agoSomebody allready told pili means tiny dick in finish, but piri is slang for amfetamin in finish.
Yeah. Fuck those scientists. Especially the ones that have created life saving things like penicilling, insuling. And its so shitty they used lab rats to test useless things like covid vaccines lately. I mean why to use poor rats. They could just have tested the vaccines with poor people.
And fuck cancer treatment too. Lets just treat people blindly, they are going to die anyway, why not make their last moments suffering just because you like mouses. Maybe we just should stop trying to cure cancer.
Just popped here to say that biggest whale babies weight allmost as much as adult elephants.
MrFinnbean@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•The curse of ‘Disco Elysium’, the greatest RPG ever madeEnglish31·26 days agoI love Clair Obscur, but i hate it when people call it RPG. You know…ROLE PLAYING GAME!
There is like two or three meaningfull opportunities to role play and one of them is binary choice in the end of the game.
And you had so many other games you could have said. Like Baldursgate or Cyperpunk where you actually can roleplay.
Claire Obscur has rpg elements, like level ups, skills and equipment. It also has very jrpg like fighting system, but there is not enough roleplay to call it rpg.
You are experiencing the story, not shaping the story.
(As a games i love both)
Ps. Im really intrested what your definition of rpg is?
When some old camry drives by and you feel like exhaust gas is choking your throat, that just the dinosaur ghost in the fossilfuels haunting you.

If they have money to buy a dog, they have money to buy a lunch.
If they dont have money and they were desperate enough to want to eat my dogs corpse i would probably buy them a lunch.
But if i can donate my dog to something usefull, like for medical training/research or i dont know. Fertilizer to grow tomatos for starving children i would.
MrFinnbean@lemmy.worldto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Denmark zoo asks public to donate unwanted small pets or horses to feed captive predatorsEnglish485·27 days agoI dont see any problem? I love my dog and i hope he wont die anytime soon. But what difference it does make if i pay 200€ to have him euthanased and cremated or have him euthnased and feed to the tiger for free?
I even asked from him and he seemed okay with it. Wagged his tail and everything.
Hell, i would gladly have my body fed to the tiger, rather than have some crook selling my family some 8000€ coffing that they see me in once.
And full of garbage the moment its unplugged
I was visiting my friends in centrall europe and one if them wanted to show me the local speciality. We travelled 45 minutes by car and other 45 minutes by foot to look teeny tiny swamp. It was line 4m² and It was protectect area. My friend was really proud to show it to me.
I live in country where 26% of our landmass is swamps and wetlands…
