Dholi@lemmy.cato Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•New research: Parked Cars Significantly Intensify Urban WarmingEnglish9·6 days agoThat’s some crazy mental gymnastics to not say “We need more public transit to get cars off the road”.
Dholi@lemmy.cato News@lemmy.world•‘A literal gut punch’: Missouri workers devastated by Republican repeal of paid sick leaveEnglish24·6 days agoThis is what happened in Ontario. Our premier took away mandatory paid sick days right away and guess what happened next? …Ontario voted for him again 4 years later with a majority. And then they did it again earlier this year.
Never underestimate how stupid the voter base is.
That’s a dad right there. I wish I had a dad like that.
Dholi@lemmy.cato You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: Upvotes and downvotes are public information on LemmyEnglish414·7 days agoat least Reddit is safe.
Lmao, what!? Reddit tries their best to know exactly who you are, where you live, your education, where you work, etc… And then they sell that data to anyone.
Dholi@lemmy.cato Canada@lemmy.ca•Should Canada Pursue an Electric Vehicle Truce With China? | Your MorningEnglish0·3 months agoNo thanks. I don’t trust them after what they did to Nortel. It’s much better for Canada to build a high-speed train line and more LRTs all across Canada because:
- Building transit allows us to train our workers for these types of projects. Workers gain new skills which can be used for more transit projects.
- Relying on auto manufacturing results in federal and provincial governments dumping billions of investment incentives into these companies for production runs that are essentially limited time only. Once the production run is up after 5 or so years, they ask the government for more money again or they threaten to move production.
- Makes our communities walk-able, safer, and makes travelling more convenient.
- Our roads in major cities are already at or above capacity and we can’t keep jamming our roads with more and more cars.
Unfortunately it’s not just Indians. Lots of people in the private sector are convinced unions are bad because of the way they protect bad cops and bad unionized tradesmen. People really are getting stupider and more selfish by the day.
