Apple allows you to offer better deals on other platforms. Customers are allowed to buy on other platforms, but sellers aren’t allowed to give you any reason to. GPUs being able to spy on you is a problem. Linux and OSs should work on ways to minimise this possibility. But specifically worrying about them ratting you out to the CPC is in my opinion much less serious than spying on you for commercial interests. Ultimately it’s possible to avoid visiting China if you aren’t Chinese. Including Chinese websites.

Since when is Israel an ethnic group? What’s antisemitic is implying the evils of Israel are racial traits. When I wish death on Israel, that doesn’t mean the people with Israeli citizenship should be killed. It means Israel should be killed. They should lose that citizenship, because the state should stop existing. The people should continue existing, as Palestinians or, because a lot of them are white-supremacists with dual citizenships, they can chose to go to their second countries.

If you can’t find an instance you agree with, and you have a mass of people who agree with you but are collectively too lazy to create a new instance, you would communicate your stance with words. Lemmy has a system for leaving text statements. You seem to be familiar. But there’s no mechanism to force the instance operator to obey you.

In a democracy, the community determines policy. Votes are orthogonal. If the community leaves when they disagree, by definition everyone that is remains agrees with the policy, making it a democratic policy. The friction to changing instance is very minimal, so it’s a good indicator of people’s opinions.
