Before you ask, they don’t do collections and they have to be your pets.

Western Europe doesn’t really have an issue with overpopulation and resulting kill shelters for cats and dogs. In fact, all of my friends with dogs have to import them from Eastern Europe. So, I really hope they’re not getting cats and dogs donated to them…

But, they also explicitly say “chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs.” Not sure how many these unwanted pets there are that it will feed their animals much…

But it also seems like this article suggests this zoo has a history of unnecessary euthanization of zoo animals and feeding to other animals…

In my country (USA) people abandon unwanted animals outdoors. A heavily domesticated (as in raised from birth with people) animal is pretty likely to die if they’re left in the middle of nowhere, which this country has in abundance.

Isn’t it better that they go back into the food chain instead of being tossed in an cremation oven?

Less waste? They euthanize them first. I’d give them my body after I’m done with it, but it’s probably not going to be safe to eat
