Canadian highways have similarly colored shields. US interstates do not place mile markers on the left side of the road

Ah I see the little white spot/logo on the bottom of red/blue highway sign.

And fwiw, in usa there are more markers on the left on wide roads or when there are left exits or hov/express lanes.
