Right, and more broadly speaking, I don’t think that current gen LLMs are the be all and end all of neural networks. There are lots of new papers that make really interesting proposals that people haven’t even began implementing seriously. And most of them are coming out of China.
US models can be distilled anyways, if Chinese AI happens to be behind the level of US AI it need not be for very long.
