I mean I think the engineers did use a pretty aggressive mix bus compression setting on this track. It’s the most “in-your-face” track on the album, so at least on the album version I think it’s cool. But also, it does sound like someone added a bit more compression on the YouTube mix. Not sure if it’s Periphery, the mastering engineer, or YouTube. I just informally compared the YouTube version to the mp3 on my phone, and my copy feels a little more dynamic than the YouTube version.
