Lotta guys involved for a speech about feminism
Yep and it looks like a meeting of the straight white man club.
How progressive of you to assume gender identities and sexualities of strangers via a single still image.
That’s why I said “looks like” and not that it is. Sad truth is LGBT people aren’t often found in jobs like that… and it would be statistically unusual for most or all of them to be LGBT.
That’s why I said “looks like”
Neither gender identity or sexuality is defined by appearance. That’s not any better. All you’re doing is prejudicially perpetuating stereotypes.
I have a feeling if someone said that a person “looks gay” or “looks trans”, you wouldn’t defend them responding to being called out for saying that with ‘I didn’t say they are, just said they look like it!’
Looks like as in appears, that’s how it presents which I could have worded differently. How likely do you think it is that they’re part of the lgbt community? And what insignia can you see indicating they support the community?
Neither gender nor sexuality is defined by appearance in general, but the straight white men do present themselves in a specific way.
You are right to say that this might not be the straight white men’s club, but you would be wrong to say that the straight white men’s club does not look like this.
Spoken like a true not-crazy-feminist who does not have a problem with straight white men and who thinks can tell a man’s sexuality by looking at him.
Foolish us. the traditional white male suit and haircut is how any gender that is fluid identify. how could we all miss that.
Sorry your feefees got hurt that the attention was not on praising the white male at every given second of eternity. Not sorry.
Just treat people equally. That’s it. Thats all anyone has to do. Male, female, any eye color, skin color, hair color, tall, short and anything in between. Just give all the same baseline and judge based on attitude and actions from there.
That’s literally feminism
No. It’s simply egalitarianism.
Feminism is focused one a singular aspect, which in itself can destoy what it seeks to do by placing the topic itself as seperated from all others.
I mean yes, it’s necessary because there are severe issues, yet the overarching attitude I often observe when singular aspects of egalitarianism are grabbed to focus on get quickly out of sync and even turn into what they fight.
I’ve seen sexist feminists who are not aware that they are sexist. Driven into it by the frustration of inequality which is slow moving and sometimes even moves backwards. Frustration can corrupt.
Gender inequality is a symptom of the broken societies we live in. Alleviating symptoms doesn’t cure the core problem.
I don’t blame them, she’s built like a Greek statue. A man with an equivalent ass would receive just as much attention. At least from me.
I challenge anyone, regardless of gender, to be sitting on that panel and not taking a quick peek.
To me, Emma Watson has got to be one of the most beautiful people on this planet. And she’s also very pretty.
But yes, the irony here isn’t lost on anyone.
Get out more.
I don’t get it - she isn’t that beautiful. Her arse is huge… and not particularly in a good way (the only people who say publicly in media are at the bequest of PR agencies she pays for because that’s how PR works) and would she be considered beautiful or revered if she wasn’t in a few films? I don’t think so. Beauty is everywhere. Those that are promoted by large film/music/media companies are not the prima talent.
As a friend of mine once put it, “you find a black woman’s ass on a white woman, you got something special.” And I never said anything about her being hot, but she absolutely has an ass you’d at least glance at.
Just to be clear, feminism isn’t about not being attracted to beautiful women. It’s perfectly human to admire someone’s beautiful features, regardless of anyone’s gender. Feminism is about respect, equality, rejecting prescribed roles and limitations placed on gender, and acknowledging and addressing privilege and patriarchal systems of society.
Notice none of those things means you can’t still like the sight of boobs, butts, legs, abs, biceps, or whatever gets you excited. It does mean that you shouldn’t reduce someone’s value to those things, nor should your excitement about seeing someone’s beautiful physical attributes become a problem for them, like if you harass them or catcall them over it, or worse.
But Emma is well respected, not only as an actress but as an advocate, and she’s there to represent a great cause to the UN. They can respect her and her work and message and still think she’s a knockout at the same time. They’re not mutually exclusive, and that’s a pretty relevant part of feminism, divorcing worth as a person from sexuality and attractiveness.
Okay, but shouldn’t her speech about feminism be the reason these men are watching her, rather than her appearance?
Yes, she’s beautiful, I get that. But in this case, she’s speaking about feminism and eaquality, and the first reaction is, “Oh wow, she looks good,” or “Damn, that ass.”
I think that’s disrespectful and undermines the message of her speech. She’s not there as an actress, but as an advocate for women’s rights.
Bunch of gross old men in charge of things are gross: more at 11.
I’m glad you dudes are waking up to our reality tho :) welcome! We bake cookies! (Sometimes, if we feel like it.)
Well…
Do you really believe that when you’re, say, 70 or so, that you won’t have sexual desires anymore?
I’m sorry but it’s weird to me that when we see a group of grand mothers all together gawking and drooling over a young muscle pool boys, it’s all cute and yeah baby, go for it! When a group of guys do it, they’re old creeps?
It’s a double standard, of course. And yes, by the time that you’re 70 you too will in part still feel like you’re twenty and if you see a young beautiful woman walk by, you WILL look, maybe even stare. If said young and beautiful woman is also world famous and dressed in a nice and accentuating dress… I mean, come on, really?
I get it, this is about feminism but ffs we’re all still human. Everyone and their neighbor would gush over Emma Watson but just because btheae are a bunch of older guys its creepy?
Just because these guys are obviously not the target demographic for Emma Watson (or are they? Loads of women are into that too, talking from experience) doesn’t mean that they don’t get to enjoy her looks by looking
If anything you want to talk about why there are only old guys there
Nothing more feminine that being admired by men
Nothing more feminine than a bunch of men
