Had my first back-and-forth with one of such ilk a few weeks back… Was quite the exercise in attempting to speak reason to the obviously unreasonable and deceitful. How much was just being lost to an alternative reality? I don’t know. But it wasn’t all of it. The stench of disingenuous strategy was strong. Unshakeable presumption of having the one true way, and the ends justifying any means. Totalitarianised psyche, where any and all atrocities are seen as necessary virtues. Strong suspicion of narcissism too, in the absence of introspection, the gaslighting, projection, and inner fragility triggering ad-hominem attacks from logical critiques of their arguments, taken as threats to them, inducing reflexive social domination mode, and worsening loss of critical thinking. So [regarding being lost to an alternative reality] it’s not none either.
It’s equal parts fascinating, sad, and disturbing.
