!madeineurope@lemmy.zip: A community dedicated to talking about, discovering, flaunting and discussing consumer products that are made in Europe by European companies.

I created this community because the most popular communities like !buyeuropean@feddit.uk, !BuyFromEU@europe.pub or !buyfromeu@feddit.org are overrun by news articles about European governmental policies, trade deals, fighter jet purchases or tech news. These kinds of posts are banned from !madeineurope@lemmy.zip. I want to see your cool socks, clothes, hot sauces, slippers or kitchen equipment made right here in Europe. The more local, niche, artisanal, environmentally friendly and socially responsible, the better.

Hope to see you there!

I do agree with the problem of being too focused on news articles, which sometimes seem barely relevant on this community (like the heritage foundation calling for the end of the EU). But I’m not sure if creating a 4th splinter group is the best move. Maybe there should be a community feedback post first to see what the community wants and possibly suggest changes that the moderation here could implement?

      Copy pasted from another comment:

Not sure how good it is to have yet another “but European community”. It’s already confusing enough as it is for newcomers.

!buyfromeu@europe.pub hasn’t been active for a few weeks

!buyfromeu@feddit.org seems to be reposts from !buyeuropean@feddit.uk ?

Lemmy 1.0 should have post flairs, would it be worth waiting until then to see if “News” and “Products” flairs can be used, and members can decide which one they want to see or filter?

I’m sorry, but I’m very comfortable with this community. I understand and respect your point of view, but I believe that European policies, the purchase of military equipment, and European technology news are all closely related to the same topic: buying and promoting European products and services, and defending our sovereignty. This community isn’t unfortunately very large, and I think it’s better to have everything unified here.

Thank you! I hope it gains traction, I considered unfollowing this community many times when I looked where from the politics leaks into my feed. Now there is an alternative!
