The heavy metal star reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates on stage at Villa Park earlier in July.
RIP Prince of Darkness
I wonder if the farewell show was put together because everyone knew he was out of time. The bands that showed up are a testament to the man’s influence.
Reminds me a little of my Grandpa death
He held on until he could see everybody, I remember him telling us he’s ready to go. A few days later he passed…I feel the same for Ozzy, he wanted to do this, it was his way of saying goodbye…and he said his goodbye and it was beautiful.
From what I understand, Ozzy had plans to visit a country with legal euthanasia relatively soon.
He didn’t want to suffer anymore, and I can understand that.
I’m glad he got to be surrounded by loved ones after a monumental world wide show that was nothing but an expression of love for our Prince of Darkness.
May he rest easy, or raise some hell, his choice.
He’s clearly been on the decline for a while. While no one knows when they will die, it was very obvious that he wasn’t going to be able to perform much longer. Even his farewell show was hard to watch because of the difficulties he was having. He could’ve lived for years after, but there was no chance of another event where he performed.
According to my wife he just got a diagnosis that he was going be dead soon. So yes this was the plan.
Very very much so. He spent 2 years prepping for it. Went off after 2 weeks. What a way to go
I have a cousin who never heard of Ozzy. I’m sending them 3 songs I think every civilized being should know. My first thought was:
Then I realized they were all from the same album. I really like Bark at the Moon from his solo stuff, but that’s mostly bc the guitar work is so outstanding. I dunno… what’s your favorite Ozzy song?
Crazy train, Mr Crowley, No more tears
Just the first few that come to mind.
Children of the Grave and Into the Void have some of the best riffs of all time, but honestly, it’s hard to top N.I.B.
Frankly, if you like heavy music, any of the first 4 Sabbath albums are damn near masterpieces from front to back (some people would include Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and even Sabotage, but I’m not one of those people at this point)
Fairies Wear Boots is the best on that album though. Such good music.
I think Crazy Train has to be one of them, and I’d say it’s more accessible to any rock fan.
Just send him that album. It is magic front to back.
The first and last time I was privileged to see Ozzy perform, it was at VoodooFest 2015. I’ll never forget that incredible show, video does not at all do it justice. He sounds like shit in this particular video (not mine), but he sounded great in person.
Ozzy–on stage with Geezer Butler, Tom Morello, and Slash–plays all the hits. It’s Halloween night, it’s raining and getting worse throughout the show as a massive thunderstorm rolls in. Ozzy’s howling is punctuated by lightning and thunder as though God had also decided to join in. I’m moshing in the mud pit, having the time of my life, drunk on contraband rum. The festival was canceled for flooding the next day and i wasn’t even mad because nothing was going to top that night’s show.
Rest well, prince of darkness.
Sharon is already selling $1200 tickets to his memorial service.

Fuck. Rest in peace, legend. 🖤💔🖤
Pretty sure the show I saw in 2015 was also touted as a farewell tour. In which he kept addressing us as Toledo. Wrong city. Wrong country. Dude has been on the decline for a while now, and I’m glad he’s now at peace.
Fabulous Motherfucker… RIP.
