Humans and many organisms do not look at a scene in steadiness; instead, the eyes move around, locating interesting parts of the scene and building up a three-dimensional ‘map’ corresponding to the scene.

Theres a scifi book called blindsight with aliens that can detect the electromagnetic signals from your brain and only moves while your eyes are blinded from saccades which makes the aliens appear invisible

Would be interesting to see what they look like captured on video. Is that discussed in the book? Also do they avoid crowds?

It is theyre not humanoid aliens. they’re kinda like if a starfish was a ring instead of a star and they have tendrils/arms that are constantly waving around and they hover. The team notices they’re invisible to someone watching because they send a member on to the alien ship with a camera crew. the ppl watching on the other side of the screen let them know there an alien smack dab infront of the person entering the alien ship. A team catches one to study in a holding cell but they don’t respond to humans because they’re too far from the main hive.

The book is called blindsight by Peter watts highly recommend
