Those cans aren’t tea. That’s just pop. Tea is made with water and loose leaves.

Not sure if it is sparkling, but that would make it a tea-based soft drink. My test here is if I started with coffee and it was mostly coffee, then that’s what I’d call it.

Lots of sugar in the form of Agave syrup but also:

Citric acid is a flavor enhancer and preservative that can cause inflammation throughout the body, according to a medical review published in the Toxicology Reports journal.

Natural flavor is a broad descriptor that fails to identify the specific flavoring chemicals used. As we documented in our article on is Topo Chico bad for you, at least one medical review suggests that some flavoring compounds and their metabolites may be toxic.

Not to mention the two vitamins they add: “We haven’t come across any convincing medical evidence that taking these vitamins without a deficiency has any health benefits.”

Or all the microplastics you are ingesting from the canning process. Cause those cans are lined with plastic and bottles and canned beverages are a huge source of the microplastics humans consume.

Please just buy loose leaf tea and make your own iced tea. It’s really not difficult to make a large batch and have enough for all week. You can also flavour it with fresh fruit and herbs like strawberries and mint. Way more control over the sugar content as well.

The thing about citric acid sounds mainly like fearmongering tbh, it’s just the acid in lemons and they don’t put a whole lot into it lest it become too acidic. I think the main danger here is the sugar.

It should also be noted that a lot of teas contain* dangerous levels of pesticides, increasing the risk of parkinsons.

I agree with all of that but it doesn’t change the fact that the first three ingredients are water, agave nectar, and black tea.

First 3 ingredients don’t excuse the ingredient following them… still a garbage product that is unhealthy.

I’d brew my own tea if it was easier finding good teas in America. I pretty much only see Bigelow and Lipton for big brand names, and the rest are cheaper, store label brands. Coffee has a way bigger selection. :/
