I went back at age 34. I had much better focus and time management. Plus i was excited to learn new things and prep for a new career.
It was stupidly easy and fun!
When you’re no longer distracted by teen things the course itself tends to fall easily into place.
Another fun thing: You get to see the younger students struggle where you used to and get to offer help if they accept it.
I started a Masters degree a month after Covid lockdown started so I had extra free time. Free time aside, I found the actual schoolwork easier than it was during my undergrad degree. My new degree is related to the field of work I’ve been in for the last few years so I had ample real world experience to give the coursework context. I also have better time management skills than I had when I was younger.
I thought it would be impossible to manage.
My first attempt (when I was twenty something) failed spectacularly, I just didn’t have my mind set to do that, was absent most of the time and just wasted money.
Then I tried again in my thirties, with more determination to achieve the goals. It was easy, my job experience helped me learn a lot already so I didn’t need to spend too much time studying.
Got my degree late but helped tremendously with my career. Definitely worth doing.
Yeah one of the great Revelations of being an adult and going back to do some classes at college as you realize that college kids are fucking dumb and it’s actually super easy half the time.
Since I wasn’t a depressed and confused teen/young adult, it went way better, lol. Even with less time (working and studying full time) and more responsibilities, it felt more doable!
