A shooting that occurred Wednesday, September 24, at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas, USA, left one person dead and three others injured , according to local and federal authorities. The assailant later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Dallas Police Department reported that the call for help came in around 6:40 a.m. in the 8100 block of North Stemmons Freeway. A preliminary investigation determined that an individual fired shots at a government building from an adjacent structure. At least two of the victims died at the scene, and three others were transported to area hospitals with gunshot wounds.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said on social media that “there were multiple injuries and casualties” and confirmed that the attacker died at the scene from a self-inflicted wound. She added that the motive for the attack remains unknown.

Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons told the U.S. press that initial information points to a possible sniper. The identities of the injured and their medical conditions have not yet been released.

Local and federal authorities have secured the area and announced they will hold a press conference later Wednesday with detailed information on the case.

This is the third such incident in 2025 in the state of Texas. In July, local authorities charged ten people with participating in a shooting outside a migrant detention center in Alvarado, which left a police officer injured and which the Department of Justice deemed an “organized attack.”
