I read Homage to Catalonia by George Orwell not too long ago, which is an account of the author’s time in the Spanish Civil War fighting fascism. A core conflict Orwell experiences is the factionalism that builds up to the May Days, which see his faction turned on by the Soviet backed communist party as aiding fascists.
I’m curious to learn about the ML perspective around this conflict. I’m a bit biased by the author’s account of events, frankly. My questions are, does the communist party’s tactics reflect ML approach to factions and conflict? Are the May Day events considered justified and defensible? If so, how?
Thanks in advance! Genuinely curious to learn more about this.
It’s weird how anarchists acab until Blair who is a colonial police in a genocide that killed 165 million.
Thanks for the reply, appreciate the references. I don’t see how this relates to the SU/ML perspective on Spain during its civil war though
