I find it hard to believe they were all living in that site for four years. It seems like there should be at least one other place where they regularly stayed.
In four years you’d have built a decent shelter.
They’d have been moving around frequently otherwise they’d have been found in the four years’ of searching.
Also being helped probably helped.
Tom Phillips must have had some type of psychopathic mental disorder (though un-diagnosed). Why shoot at the police? This isn’t even anger, it’s mental illness. He was determined to hide forever, even though he knew he’d have to keep stealing food, clothes and shoes for his children. Basic sense tells you that eventually he’d be caught, but he believed he could just shoot the police, kill a few cops maybe, then hide. Come out and shoot, hide. He must have had Psychopathic Personality Disorder. He’s just a really weird guy who gets obsessed with an idea and refuses to give himself up. Another braindead psychopath with no charisma just like Tarrant. Even if he was angry about the family court, then doesn’t explain why he’d hide for 4 years and not give himself up. A normal man would’ve eventually come clean and spent a couple of years in prison and just dealt with the consequences. Psychopaths always think they’re right and they have no ability for long-term planning.
This.
Like what else was his long term plan? Any rational person wouldve thought about this sometime in the past 4 years and realize staying in the bush forever isn’t going to work.
Remember, we also live in a world that’s had many ancient leaders who thought that they could become ruler of the world forever, and crush all rival empires or states. Totally delusional.
My theory is that he couldn’t deal with the thought of living without his children. For him this was just suicide because he knew they were going to take his kids away.
Ya but even if he didn’t have any custody, he could still talk to them sometimes, I think? Even if he lost custody for a while he could always argue for 50% later. That’s better than suicide-by-cop.
That would be a rational way to look at it. It’s obvious he was not a very rational person.
Psychopaths think rationally and logically but often in extremely narrow terms which eventually trap them.
