    Most dictators don’t die while still in power, but that’s mostly because most of them seize power when they’re relatively young. Often they’re generals in the army and aged 40 or something. That means they need to live 40ish years before dying and handing off power. In many cases they use their time in office to eliminate all opposition so that if they do live long enough to hand over power, it doesn’t matter if their sons are relatively weak.

    Trump’s a unique case because he gained power in his 70s, so that’s not a lot of time to shape the country so that his failson can take over.
