The manager of an adventure park in France has been taken into custody after refusing entry to 150 Israeli children, authorities said.

The group of holidaymakers, aged eight to 16, had been holidaying in Spain before travelling to France, where they were prevented from entering the park in the southern Pyrenees-Orientales region despite a long-standing booking.

It said the site manager was detained on Wednesday due to "discrimination based on religion in the offering or provision of goods or services”. He remains in custody over the incident, which can be punishable with up to three years in prison.

A statement on its Facebook page on Wednesday read: “Following yesterday’s severe storm, we must close the park tomorrow, Thursday, August 21, to conduct a complete inspection of our facilities. This inspection is essential to ensure your safety and to welcome you in the best possible conditions on your next visit. Thank you for your understanding and see you soon in the air.”

Understandable but misplaced anger/unreasonable reaction if it happened for the reasons I’m assuming he had.

The most that this has done is inconvenienced a bunch of children who can travel freely literally anywhere they please. There is no room for moralizing this.

What happens to Palestinians hourly and what happened to Palestinian children across several decades is multitude of degrees worse, there’s literally no sane comparison to be had.

So we should punish children for what adults do. Sounds reasonable.

Shit like that is how you get shitty adults.

Being rested by genocidal sociopaths is how you get crappy adults. Being faced with consequences of crappy actions may occasionally prompt deep reflection.

They’re children. All they’re going to know is they were targeted for something they had no part in. You can bet their adults aren’t framing it as “our government is shitty so you have to deal with the consequences.”

I have a bit more faith in 8-16 year olds. They may ask questions and seek answers for some years, before understanding. But some well may find answers.
