Yes. The carrier unlocked ones (historically) came with unlockable boot loaders. The carrier locked ones also don’t allow you to unlock. T-Mobile used to let you unlock your bootloaders, but I think recently they’ve stopped. But carrier unlocked? Those used to never be not unlockable.
You’ve (almost) always been able to buy factory unlocked phones in the US.
If you scroll down on the filters and set it to your city/state it filters out a lot of it. Helps to find local things.

On my display I have at home I have a kinda similar issue, but it’s on all machines. It’s just only noticeable on Mac OS with the default colors the theme uses. On 100% white it’s too blinding to tell, any darker and it blends in. The “lines” are the border between the pixels and as far as I can tell it’s because the display has a poor “dot pitch” for it’s size.
They’re still there when I connect a PC, but like I said it’s harder to tell with the theme Windows uses, but they’re still there.
What kind of distortion? So you have a picture?
Is it blurry? Are there digital artifacts randomly? Does it just blank out then come back?
I’ve always preferred a smaller screen. 13” isn’t really that much smaller unless you’re blind.
Why do you want 64 gigs of ram? Are you actually using it for work related things? 32 is largely plenty for most “normal” people. Do you have 2 or 4 ram slots? And how many sticks currently? You could add another 16 gigs pretty cheaply. Or if you have two slots even 32 for cheap. Dual channel memory works fine with weird combos like that.
I’d personally upgrade CPU/RAM/Mobo if you find a good deal. Im also a chronic multi tasker and DESPISE CPU bottlenecks. Micro center has some good combos and I think you can upgrade the ram on them. I think their 7600x3D combo is pretty good and should be a nice upgrade over the 8700k. Or even the 7800x3D sometimes. It all depends on how much you want to spend.
S0 standby is the problem. It’s a flawed idea from the start. The theory is it’s more “secure” or something. But like… Who cares about stealing shit from memory going from sleep to wake.
Now my laptop drops 20% charge in 5-10 minutes and goes into hibernation. It draws more power than if it’s on.
Macs aren’t immune to S0 sleep options. The Apple silicon CPUs are just so efficient that when it fails to fall to sleep it doesn’t matter. Intel ones it sucks balls when it fails.

Of course a larger device will cost less/provide better performance. You’re paying a premium for the handheld formfactor. Just like how with a gaming laptop you’re paying a premium vs a 50+ pound desktop.
