Without him there’d be one less transphobe on Lemmy. I hope he gets the money he needs to have a home and I also hope he leaves forever.

Daystrom Institute@startrek.website•How does someone get a splinter on a starship?English
1·2 months agoI was going to point out crew might just prefer to use chopsticks normally, but then I remembered that my wooden chopsticks are lacquered and wouldn’t produce splinters. But I guess the replicator could make chopsticks for traditional asian dishes even if the refrectory has reusable cutlery, just like Japanese restaurants provide disposable chopsticks to white people

1·2 years agoThe son scammed her. He told her she needed to disinfect peripherals. The tech is just allowing that to happen and charging a not listening to the tech fee.

Comradeship // Freechat@lemmygrad.ml•Why has Stalin been so propagandized?English
0·2 years agoYou said he was unshakeably principled. If you don’t want people to challenge your claims, don’t make them. It’s not changing the subject to call you out on the bullshit you didn’t want people to call you out on, it’s just life. Get used to it.

0·2 years agoSo the argument in that link is “everyone else was homophobic too so it’s okay”, and I need to stress that that is not unshakeably principled behaviour. That is an example of shaken principles. If your defence of Stalin is “he was only as bad as the capitalists”, he’s still shit.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why is Lemmy, with a tiny fraction of Mastodon's MAU, more fun than Mastodon?English
01·2 years agoI’m pretty sure Mastodon has algorithms. All internet infrastructure runs on algorithms, except for weird experimental AI stuff.

The ability to create dispassionate political systems is, in nature, a uniquely human ability. Wolves and ants have political systems, but the systems rely on direct and intentional involvement, at least as much as anything an ant does can be intentional.
Ants don’t have recessions, or gas chambers, or nuclear bombs, or greenhouse gas pollution, or strip mining, or seafloor dragging. That’s a human invention.
