  • That’s funny. I’m 55 and the reason I’m pro-palestine is the American doctors working there who reported that they worked on babies that were intentionally shot.

Out of the 53 American medical workers surveyed who did emergency care for children in Gaza, 44 said they saw kids shot in the head or chest. Here’s Mark.

    Mark Perlmutter

83% said they saw a child who was shot in the chest or head-- 83%. So it’s not just my finding.

Could you describe that moment when you saw just how many?

    Mark Perlmutter

Oh, I cried. Yeah, because it gave a number to the tragedy.

Feroze published an op ed in the New York Times with the results of the survey. A group of the doctors wrote two letters to then President Biden outlining what they saw. Feroze thought that would mean two things-- they’d get a call from the White House and there’d be an investigation.

  • I did it, but that was 32 years ago.

Edit: got the degree and started my career. I’ve had to deal with windows since then.

Your best bet might be working in university research centers. You will still have to work with windows, but most researchers are trying to save pennies and you can’t do that using Windows.

I was hired 25 years ago as a systems admin. At the time I was hired, the organization used Macs in offices. Servers were running Linux, Solaris, and OpenVMS, all of which I had been supporting since college. I was valued for most of the 25 years because I could solve problems no one else could, and I did that by writing code on Linux servers.

Now I’ve got a manager who doesn’t believe in writing code to support our users and thinks Linux is a bad word that we should never use because we might have to support it. Still, he’s gung-ho for us to support every new bullshit AI that comes down the pike.

I’ve got 25 years of code on a Linux server that made lives easier, but I have to eliminate it all because linux is bad. At the same time every AI project our group installs needs new Linux servers set up.

  • You won’t like it.

Once I pass through Thanksgiving, I start listening to Christmas music. Non-stop.

I try to reset my mood from the rest of the year in this one window between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

There have been years when my mood became so bad in December that I stopped listening to Christmas music before Christmas.

    Those are very bad times.

It absolutely does not start until after dessert on Thanksgiving, and it ends before December 26.

It’s a variety of Christmas songs. Typically nothing more recent than 1990. If I play all the way through, my Christmas playlist is 39 hours and 30 minutes.

Edit: I often add to the playlist each year. Last year I added the Jethro Tull Christmas Album.
