Yeah, that is what I am finding. Takes a while to build a community, so wanted to get others’ input on whether being on Discord is an issue and, if so, what alternatives there are.

Doesn’t appear to be much consensus on an alternative, and that a mass migration is happening. So for now will probably stick to the Discord channel.

It isn’t about leaving Lemmy, but finding another channel that is more conducive to collaboration and lengthy conversations.

Completely agree on this, and maybe I mispoke. I meant that Shift isn’t entirely open-sourced. You are right that Chrome based on Chromium is open-sourced.

I tend to favour Firefox forks though as I have more trust in Mozilla as the primary developer.
