I do feel bad for anyone who was affected by this who did not support Trump and his dismantling of the weather services that could have prevented this.
However, for anyone who was affected who voted for Trump and supported his dismantling of said programs? Fuck around, find out.
Unfortunately, even with better forecasting, it wouldn’t have been possible to predict exactly how much rain was going to fall or where in a storm like this, but just two days before all this started, they were literally predicting sunshine this weekend in Central Texas.
There’s a huge element of randomness in this kind of storm, where one area gets 15+" of rain while 30 miles away they only get 3", but a warning that excessive localized rainfall was a possibility would’ve been helpful.
I also blame the local government. Central Texas is flash flood central due to our geography, and all local governments should have emergency preparedness plans to send out push notifications to people in their areas. This all went down in the middle of the night and happened so fast that the local government got caught totally off guard though
I agree with your points but it is extremely frustrating that they also are killing the science to try and have better predictions and not even bothering with managing climate change which will make these kind of events more frequent and more devastating. I am sure you already know but it is so damn frustrating. People are dying and it only is going to get worse.
You sound like a preacher who says that natural disasters hit us because of homosexuality.
Good people help communities, no matter who they are. Good people don’t cheer or act smug when had things happen to a community. There are dozens of young girls missing after their summer camp got swept away. It is very possible most, of not all of their parents were trump supporters… none of the children voted for trump. This isn’t a point for your team, these are lives destroyed.
Yes, if this happened in California term trump would make it clear he doesn’t care, and his supporters wouldn’t flinch. But those are despicable people, pity them and show them how we should respond to tragedy.
Texas Trumpers/Republicans strongly voted for a president & governor they knew would:
defund climate research
slash FEMA budgets
slash NOAA budgets & weather funding, including early warning systems.
go on an general anti-science, politically-motivated defunding spree
Texas Trumpers/Republicans:
cheered it all on, especially when it upset scientific groups, researchers, liberals, greenies
watched with glee through 2016-2020 as it the de-funding caused or heavily exacerbated many disasters
voted it back in for 2024, knowing full-well that even stronger defunding anf political zealotry was planned this time round.
Homosexuals:
were gay
That person: the Trump voters involved got what they voted for, I feel sorry for everyone else.
You: you sound like those preachers that say gays cause earthquakes.
What a terrible analogy. People are allowed to vent frustrations, especially when ‘taking the high road’ has proven to be completely ineffective in changing the opinions of conservatives, and especially ineffective against fascists.
Is the Trump admin a good community you are so desperately preaching about?
No, and I never said that good people help good communities. Good people help communities in need.
If this flood hit Mar a Lago and destroyed everything in it’s path and only killed people who are a part of the administration then I would be cheering. The people directly causing the issue would be the ones getting the consequences. However, that’s not what would happen because there are housekeeping staff there who just need a job, there are families who are on vacation there (some likely reluctantly dragged there by a maga spouse or parent). And so, if there’s even a chance that a single innocent person is in need, then every effort should be made to help.
Innocent people are in need and they do need help. So why are we cutting funding to NOAA and FEMA which do the things that you want? Blood is on the hands of Trump and everyone who voted for him.

Don’t think the children voted for Tump.
And literally the first sentence in my comment addressed that chucklefuck you’re not being clever you’re just being a gotcha-seeking asshole.

They don’t sound like that at all. The Trump admin has been dismantling and defunding NOAA and FEMA. FAFO.
